My mom has treated me like crap since I gave birth. She kept bringing up how she could have had a baby boy back in her day but couldn’t after she had me. She seems like she is mad at me and I don’t think I will ever understand her 💆🏽♀️ my relationship with my mom has never been a good one. I don’t know if I can change it at this point of our lives.
Thanks for the wonderful advice! You are right I need to keep some distance for now to keep myself sane and not sad during the holiday times. Appreciate your help ☺️
Does sounds like jealousy. It's sad your own mom can be though. She should be happy for you.
I wish she was more happier for me. She loves her grandchild and is very happy to hear about him. Although she has been very cold to me 😞
Sounds like jealousy. I had the same issue when my second was born with one of my sisters
I didn’t think my own mom would act like that tho caught me by surprise and I find myself thinking about it a lot, getting depressed about the issue
@tanirani, it took almost a year for my sister to get over it so just know it takes time. And people get over their own issues eventually I would just take it with a grain of salt since she’s supportive with your LO. In some cultures boys are preferred so she might not even really understand that she’s coming off like this. Got to look back at how your grandparents are too. This is something I learned the second year of marriage learning how my husbands family dynamics are really helped our relationship
Will your Mom be in the delivery room?
My mom made it sound like she was gonna be in the delivery room when I give birth, and quite frankly, I would just like it to be me and my fiancé. It's our first, and I want to share that special moment with just him. I don't want to hurt her feelings, and I know this is something she would really like to be a part of. So I feel bad telling her no.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
My friend had a question that I can not answer: if her boyfriend tested for Chlamydia and it came back positive she more then likely has it? She is 18 weeks pregnant and was wondering on how to call and ask the OB to get tested again and I honestly don’t know what to say to her
What would you do? - baby shower
SO my mom has been very negative about the baby my entire pregnancy. Especially in the beginning, she said the most HORRIBLE things about me, my DH and my unborn baby. Like that I was making a big mistake, that I was making her 2015 the worst year ever... etc etc. Even when she would do nice things she made me feel like I was a HUGE inconvenience and a burden to her. She told me to definitely NOT expect a shower or anything like that from her. Fine, whatever...
Honestly, I’d just confront her about it. And let her know that if she can’t show you a little more warmth & kindness that maybe you need to take your family/life a step away from her for awhile until she can get past her negative feelings. It’s wonderful that she loves your son, but how she’s treating you is obviously messing with YOUR mental health. And your little man needs a healthy momma. Remember how you’re feeling is important too.
I hope things get better for you, girl. Tension with your mom is never an easy road to navigate. ❤️❤️
