This evening when my daughter woke up .. her dad noticed this yellow like film like goo around her eye and lash area.. I took a warm towel and wiped her eye thinking maybe it’s just an eye booger since she’s been sleeping all day! . . . Until she just woke up again and it was more of it on her eye to were she could barely open it and it’s like a faint redness around her pupil 🤯so now I’m about to freak out !
Anyone ever have this problem??
I’ve called the hospital nursery as they told me if I have any questions but they will have to call me back and I’m worried now 😒

It’s most likely a clogged tear duct. Keep it clean with a warm wash cloth exactly how you’re doing.. and if her cornea gets red or it doesn’t get better in a few days then maybe schedule an appointment. Try not to worry!

Also you can try breast milk! That might help. I just used a wash cloth in my son though and his eye got better. As long as the eye booger isn’t lime green you are okay

The nurse finally called me back and she said the same.. more than likely a clogged tear duct and to just keep cleaning it and it should go away. buuut that’s why I was afraid because it’s slightly red and her eye to me looks kind of puffy as if it may be irritated

@jaidensmommy, I scheduled an outpatient appointment for them to check her in the morning so hopefully it goes well and it’s nothing serious

My daughter had the same thing when she was small. It just eventually went away . Just cleaned it with a warm cloth . It wasn’t pink eye or anything just crust around her eye and in her eyelashes .

My daughter has had this problem from day one. Her doctor said it’s a clogged tear duct and it should go away by age 1. If it doesn’t go away, she’ll have to get surgery.
