Can someone please tell me why they say not  to mix fresh warm breastmilk with cold milk? I didn't know you weren't supposed to mix them. I breastfed my 1st till 18 months and am breastfeeding my 3 month old. I had never heard anything about not mixing it till recently.

They should be the same temp when mixing

You risk contaminating the fresh milk since the warm milk could have bacterial growth

Thank you. I've started putting it in different containers until the milk is all the same temperature and then mixing it together. I make sure to put my milk in the fridge right after I pump it or collect it.

@nvonehrenkrook, it’s just not recommended to mix something if it wasn’t stored in sterile conditions
