Is it normal for a baby to hurt themselves when they get in trouble? My son’s in timeout in his playpen because when I told him he couldn’t grab my phone charger (It’s not like I yelled or anything! I said “no” first and he HATES that word), he started uncontrollably kicking and hitting me. He just turned a year old a few days ago. Now that he’s in his playpen, just like any other time that he gets in trouble like this, he will not stop hitting himself, biting himself, pinching himself, banging his head, etc. obviously not all at once or each time. Its just things ive noticed him do every time. Obviously I stop him immediately, but then he tries to bite me. I just dont know what to do. Is this normal?

I agree with PP . When my son was that age he used to pull his hair bc he couldn’t talk and would just get really frustrated. It used to break my heart but like she said redirection works! Take his mind off what ever it is that he’s not supposed to be doing .

Everyone has their own opinion but in mine redirection is best at his age. He sounds frustrated and doesn't know how to communicate with you. He may hear "no" but might not understand how to react to it. Redirection redirection redirection is best. I still use it with my 2year olds. You are entering the stage of patience is key. @mikailahandbaby

But how do I go about doing that?

@mikailahandbaby Redirecting is like getting his attention on something else.... So if he is going for your cord, get on his level, get a toy that he likes or if he likes books and call him over to you and make that toy way more exciting and engage him in it. If he reaches your cord and is all over that simply pick him up without saying no and take him over to his toys and play with those.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

@itsamemario, you deleted your post before I could hit send but this is my comment: I don’t know if this answers your question but this is my answer. My son is 7 and he knows race and color. Why? Because he himself comes from a family that is multi racial and because he has already experienced racism. I also believe as his mother it’s my job to teach him color and the cold hard truth about society. He knows what’s going on in this world. I’d be hurting him if I allowed him to blindly walk outside without this information. Children of color are being targeted and killed too. It’s not just adults. I let my son know we treat everyone equally and with respect. I let him know that we love everyone for their differences. In every aspect. Color, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference we love everyone.

Ok so my son just got his first job. He’s also type 1 diabetic. Well last night while working his sensor starts going off his blood sugar dropped to 52. They told him he could deal with it after he got his orders done, which in a way I understand that but at the same time if it drops low enough he can pass out and that won’t be good for anyone!! They wouldn’t even let him just grab some glucose tabs out of his bag. I’m so torn here because I don’t know what’s appropriate and what’s not.
