A coworker who just had a baby Wednesday said that their “home inspection” is scheduled for Monday. I didn’t directly ask, but he made it seem as if all homes are inspected once an infant is brought home. I live in New Jersey, can anyone clarify/validate that be it in NJ or any other state? My friends with kids have never mentioned such a thing so I didn’t want to pry...🤔

Okay. It just has me thinking because no one that I know has ever mentioned such a thing. And I know that he has kids with another girl. And his new baby mom is a little out there... so I was wondering if there was an underlying situation 😅😅😅

I live in Nj have 5 kids my youngest will be 2 in feb. Never heard of home inspection. Maybe the state is involved w/ them.

Yo mama

Ignore my comment. I haven’t heard of that.

Maybe if she rents the house they are doing an inspection to see if she can renew or if they need any repairs.

When did that start?

I think its optional. I had a nurse from the local health unit ask if i wanted her to come over once baby was born to make sure that the sleeping arrangements, sterilizing of bottles, swings ect ect were up to par with everything. Also to help with breastfeeding if need be and all that jazz. I had her at my 37w or 38w app but i declined and said id call if i needed too 🤷‍♀️

Unless they are buying a house then there would be s home inspection. but has nothing to do w/ baby.

No in this case he said they come to make sure everything is good in the house- and to prepare myself because they always do it to everyone..

I actually lived in Flemington when I had my daughter, and nope.. no one ever had to check out home when we brought her home.

Seems odd for sure but unless you have reason to be concerned about them coming to your home I’d not worry about it. Ask your doctor at next appointment they’d likely know if it’s routine in your area.

@butters1106, It’s odd for sure. It’s likely because they have involvement with child services is my guess...maybe they aren’t aware them self it’s not routine..that’s my guess.

That’s kinda my

Thought and why I didn’t ask him more on the matter. But I figured, things always change so anything is possible 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m going to say it’s very likely they just aren’t aware them being inspected isn’t routine. Here you have an option of the health nurse coming out when you get home to do babies weight and check how nursing is going etc...but an inspection sounds like there’s concern and they are being monitored.

Does he have other children? It’s possible there’s an open CPS case for another kid or the mother tested positive for drugs during her pregnancy. Those things would warrant an inspection for a new baby.

Yes. He has others from another mother and she has other from another father. 🤔

It’s not mandatory for everyone.

When I was 17 and had my first, they offered a home VISIT with a health nurse, not an inspection though.

I took it.

Got asked with my second if I wanted one and declined the offer.

Probably a cray question to ask, but when did y’all start to wash your newborns clothes and putting them away? Like I’ve been getting clothes since I found out what I was having but I haven’t taken off tags yet or washed anything. I’m 30 weeks. It’s crazy because with my other 3 kids I didn’t really wash a lot of their stuff at first (got lazy) ALSO what laundry detergent did you use if you didn’t use Dreft? Because i saw Pyrex for Baby an didn’t know if anyone tried it??
