If you can get him some magnesium citrate that will clean him out or milk of magnesia will work also and then have him take 2 stool softeners for a few days or until he is not on pain meds anymore

After my car accident, I had severe constipation. I ended up at the hospital again because of it and all they did was hook me up to an IV. They said if it continues to drink LOTS AND LOTS of water and it will help loosen the stool. Went home drank crazy amount of water back to back and sure enough I was able to go.

Considering his injuries his medication is probably an opioid. If it is PP is correct they can cause constipation. Extra hydration is extremely important for his recovery and will help ease the stooling problem. Stop softener over the next 24 hours and if that doesn't work help Miralax is certainly a good option. Hope he feels better soon!!!

Was he given painkillers after the accident? Those can cause some pretty major constipation. Usually a stool softener or laxative will help relieve that.

Get some Miralax or suppositories. He may not go the suppository route though... some Milk of Magnesia might be good, works fast!
