I took my child back to the doctor Monday for her cough and fever and nose, okay so they gave her cough medicine to take for cold/cough okay well I gave her medicine to her for five days like the bottle said to do and today is the fifth day and her cough has got no better, should I wait a few more days for it to kick in or should I take her back to the doctor? She has no fever no more though but she still has that cough and slight runny nose. 🤔🤔

Coughs just linger sometimes. If she doesn’t have a fever, I wouldn’t take her (unless it’s a worrisome barking cough).

Honestly cough medicine doesn’t help the cough, they need to get it all out and let it run its course in order for it to go away. Its probably from the runny nose tickling her throat. Doesn’t sound serious enough to go back to the dr to me but maybe call the nurse and explain.

@meganreid121915, Aww poor baby! Have you tried a Vick’s humidifier while she sleeps? It’s a must in my house also Vick’s on feet, chest and upper back and no bare-feet! I hope she gets better soon❤️

Unfortunately coughs tend to linger longer than the actual cold. Just keep an eye on it, if she has trouble breathing when she's coughing, definitely take her back asap. My son had a cough for about a week, took him to the Dr she said it was just a cold that would have to run it's course and to keep giving him the cough med I already was. Well, then we went to Disney for 2 weeks and his cough got worse as the days went on. As soon as we got back home, I took him back to the Dr and she ordered a chest x-ray. he had pneumonia and was diagnosed with asthma. So, he was on antibiotics for 10 days, and is now on a controller inhailor and has an emergency inhailor along with singular to add to his medication regimen.
Not saying that's what'll happen, just keep an eye on her and if you think she's getting worse or develops other symptoms, trust your instincts and take her back.
Hope she feels better soon.
