I hope you do. His behavior is disgusting. And honestly the fact that you aren't turning him in is troublesome too. Animal cruelty is a felony. The fact that he doesn't think he was wrong is alarming and he is facing no consequences.

They have an App you can Text the police...in many states now. You can say a neighbor must have heard the dog scream horrendously. So the cops will come to your home

I am a Professional Pet Groomer for 20 yrs ..I hope your safe ,YOU and your child and dog shouldn't be forced to live anywhere your not comfortable or safe...LEAVE. I can tell when an animal gets abused at home while grooming the dog's they are very skittish and shake a lot if u lift your hand to get a brush it's sad..
I have been in your situation when I was a young married teen mom.It doesn't get better ..Be Courageous for the love of your child especially and get the fu%@# out if you need to ! They have many places in each city that take in women w children fast or help with moving deposits. Sending your strength and good vibes

@dpinkpixie10, men are very intimidating to animals, not trying to be “sexist” but men are normally the abuser when it comes to animals, and their stature is very nerve wrecking for animals, I understand smacking the dog on the butt when they do something wrong, but when they are defending themselves, he didn’t know what your boyfriend was trying to do, he just knew that this scary man is holding onto me, and he doesn’t like that.

@dpinkpixie10, I totally got that image in my head, yeah hell no, I would of beat the day lights out of someone, if they hit my dog like that. Boyfriend or not. Just be careful, if he can do that to an animal no problem, imagine what he could do to you, or your child.
