I have a 5 year old daughter who’s confidence is ...terrible. When it come to school she shuts down completely. Now I’m not talking about with people or her classmates I’m taking about the work she has to do. She’s afraid of saying the wrong answer. Her teacher told me we need to build her confidence but I’ve been doing that and it’s not helping one bit.
It goes from cheering her on
Even if she gets something wrong I’ll cheer her and say let’s try this together.
I tell her who cares if you make mistakes.
I always remind her she’s smart
She’s a very smart girl but she afraid of answering any questions because she’s terrified of getting it wrong
Anything you ladies can recommend?

I was the same way as a child, to the point to where i refused to raise my hand, and i would get extremely nervous if the teacher called on me to answer a question..
Have you tried hyping her up when she gets good grades or gets the right answers?

I was the same I didn't participate in class because I was worried I was wrong. I don't remember if anything really helped. When I got it right it helped some.

Sadly children of this age can struggle with the same things we do. Perfectionism. If praise isn't helping, maybe therapy or Idk...
In retrospect I wish my parents would have gotten me therapy when i went through this.

I was the same way. I was severely bullied and was scared to say anything out loud. Hopefully it’s something she will grow out of, but just be there for her. You’re doing great, but confidence building takes a long time.
