Insurance should cover it, especially if it’s interfering with eating
@laniejay, the doctor I was referred to want me to pay upfront which I think is crazy
The first 6 weeks are the hardest and a learning curve.
First, I’d get his tongue tie resolved ASAP.
Second- 2 oz at 5 days post partum is AMAZING. Baby should only be taking .5-1oz at a time at that age, be sure to pace feed and pump every time a bottle is given.
They can drop 10% of their body weight before it’s concerning.
I’d see a Lactation Consultant ASAP.
Also try a nipple shield it helps baby latch. I had to use with both babies!!
I totally know what you mean. Really try and hand express and syringe feed what you hand express do it like for 5 minutes each breast every couple hours. And put baby on other boob while doing it. Breast feeding is challenging. And make sure you switch the boob you feed on each feeding. It will come in.
Babies at that age tend to loose weight. Your milk sometimes doesn’t fully come in for a week their tummies are extremely small. My son lost almost a pound by the time he was 5 days old.
When I try breast feeding he will just cry now he won’t even try and that makes me so sad I just feel like I’m not doing a good job because My body isn’t producing enough milk to feels him you know what I mean
Since baby is so new try and expression and syringe feed what you express it’s suppose to help a lot.
I would try that but I think it’s also the face that my baby still won’t get as much food as he should get so far he as lost 6oz
@leshain18. I was doing half breastfeeding n half formula so switching wasn't complicated . I'd give it a couple weeks before making that decision.stay super hydrated eat and maybe try so lactating bars or cookies . also try and pump.one booty while baby is on other boob. Try this for a bit then if u still not seeing results consult ur dr.to switch . some wic ofdices help with breastfeeding as well
@irishtwinmommy, okay so my issue is my baby is 5 days old he as a tied tongue so it’s hard for him to latch on and it causing me to have blisters all over my boobs and he’s gets really frustrated when he’s unable to feed, so I try pumping but I have not receive nothing over 2 oz from both boobs combine
@irishtwinmommy, and he will cry for mins which seem like hours and I get so overwhelmed because I can’t feed my baby when he needs to be fed
I have one and they recommend that i get the tongue tie resolve but I do not have $700 to pay for it
