So frustrated. I had one thing to say about our sons name. I said I wanted Thomas-David as the middle name after my grandfather that passed when I was in 4th grade. I was VERY close to him, he was like a dad figure. My boyfriend ended up saying he didn't want David in there because God forbid his ex's dad's middle name was David. Does he not realize that's my dad's middle name? That more than one person can have the same middle name? Then he brought up how his son from his past relationships middle name is David. I keep repeating why I wanted Thomas-David and how it was 2 middle names. Not just David. Pointed out my half sister has the same exact middle name as me. Myself and my 3 siblings (mom's kids, not dads) are named after family. Like idc what you pick for the first name, at least I didn't say I wanted Thomas David for his full name. But I always told myself Thomas David would be a part of one of my kids names some day. I'm Not backing down on that.
He needs to move on and stop thinking about his exes. That sounds like the real issue here. I would flat out tell my man this would mean a lot to me and to stop thinking about your exes and my man would 100% tell me the same thing. He’s having a baby with you and starting a whole new life and journey with YOU. There is no reason for him to talk about his exes and especially not let them affect his decisions.
@mia.mcc it's crazy too when it's been almost 2.5yrs since they got divorced. We're fighting right now because it's the endless comparison. How they did this and that, and she would do this. But I don't. And it's coming down to me feeling like complete and utter shit and worthless.
When we picked names it was hard bc we had to weed out a bunch of name because of previous people we knew
@ameliasmomma it's like impossible to do that with me lol. I've moved a lot and know A LOT of people. Plus on my side I have a HUGE family compared to him.
If he already has a child with the middle name David then I can see why that wouldn’t work.
I think it’s kind of unrealistic that your not willing to compromise on that. I’d not want both my children to have the same middle name.
You may not like the opinion, but I completely agree with your SO...I’d feel the same if my older child already had that name.
@momsrmagical she was probably excited to have someone close named Jocelyn since she didn't have her own with that name. Better to have a neice with the name if you don't have your own daughter with it!
When it comes down to it you are the final decision maker it's your child do what makes you happy. With my daughter I told my SO he had no choice but to agree on a name with Lynn in it. Because it was my mother's name who passed away 10 years ago at the time she had five grandsons and no granddaughters. When I found out I was having a girl before I knew I was having a girl I said her name will have Lynn in it if it is a girl. I also agree that it's okay for family members to have the same first or middle name. My sister's second son passed away and she gave her youngest her son's middle name who passed away as her youngest's middle name.
@momsrmagical I grew up with a family of matching middle names. A lot of us have middle names after someone in the family. I'm after my aunt, sister is after a cousin, brother another cousin, adopted brother has my grandmother's middle name. My son is after his dad, half sister on dad's side has mine. My SO also has same first name as his son but never gave his ex an issue. So my SO goes my Jeremy and his son is Jeremiah, so won't ever be able to shorten his son's name to Jeremy or it'll get very confusin
So I told my SO if he let me use Thomas-david, Thomas, or David for the middle name, he could pick the first. He always wanted a boy named Connor. His last names Lewis. To me I just can't get the middle names to go with Connor. It hurts, because I really wanted this boys middle name after my grandfather that passed away. But it just doesn't go right. I asked him about Connor Matthew or Connor Michael Lewis. It just sucks to not get something to sound right.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Am I wrong for telling my Bd that because we not Married my baby don't have to have his last name? He really got mad and told me I was project n ignorant. Crazy part is I was thinking about giving my baby his middle and last name
Mini rant plus Update about "Grayson"
I had to change his name. His name is no longer Grayson. His name is Leo. My SOs sisters sons middle name is Grayson and it totally ran past my mind about that. I respect his sister, biggest sweetheart so I apologized to her and she understood and made a great point. No one wants the same name as one another, plus it wouldn't be fair to the both of them. I'm still a little upset, but I'll be alright.
So I wanted to name my daughter Serenity & then my brother & parents called me after they had a whole house meeting saying the name “wouldn’t get her a job”.. now I’m back to square one 🙄
My brother and sister both have the same middle name. We named my daughters with my middle name and if this baby is a girl she will also have the same middle name as us. I love the concept of having the same middle names. Who actually ever uses middle names anyways? If you want it then do it. He will get over it. You get to fill the birth certificate out so go for it momma! I'm totally on your side!
