I packed a baby blanket, footie pajamas and a onesie to take baby home in! I never put my kids in clothes at the hospital until we are going home (Also it's winter where I live so the mittens and hat and warm zip up)
But if they do picture in the hospital you can always pack an outfit for that or a special swaddle you want with him ! Hospitals provide binkies, diapers and formula (if bottle feeding ) , blankets, burp cloths , Vaseline (for circumcision)... Then you take home everything you don't use while you're there! Def pack and extra empty backpack or bag of some sort to bring all the extra stuff home in!!
A couple blankets, about 5 outfits, pajamas, and socks and hats cause you don’t know how long you would have to stay , a outfit for hospital pictures if you want one for that, and a going home outfit. Burp cloths, Vaseline and make sure you take an extra little bag bc you take home the pampers and wipes and stuff you don’t use and you’ll have plenty of papers they give you to take home. make sure you stash a pack or 2 of diapers & wipes throughout each day your there cause they give you all the diapers n wipes you need.
Also you take a bag for yourself and make sure you have a couple of comfortable outfits & one for you to go home in, socks, comfortable bras & big panties that you don’t really care for. A tooth brush, tooth paste, bar of soap , your own towel and rag , and a comb and brush. And a small blanket cause those hospital blankets are annoying lol that was just me though
I took a coming home outfit and blankets for the car seat. You don't need anything else. They give you diapers, wipes, formula, etc. Since they have to check baby so often it's easiest to just leave in the t shirt they use and blankets.

When I was there last I felt bad for not taking extra now , I’m taking extra formula , paci blankets pamper everything lol

Our hospital does do pictures! Definitely wanna bring the little hand crafted fishing outfit I got for his pics! I forgot about that. Thank you
