I might be wrong for being so mad & upset... just took my daughter to her appointment. I knew from how she’s been so miserable & acting She has acid reflux. The dr confirmed it & said it will either get worse or better by month 4/6,, but won’t prescribe her anything. Is there ANYTHING I can give her over the counter??

I would speak with a new doctor... reflux meds are much safer than putting cereal in the bottle. Not to mention rice cereal is extremely constipating.

Ny daughter had horrible reflux she was on about 6 to 8 different formulas. I agree put cereal in her milk BUT ONLY A TINY BIT you dont wanna make the milk thick but it might be too thin on her stomach. But with doing that you need to watch out for her becoming constipated. Formula can make her constipated and so can the cereal even if it wasn't in her milk. What formula is she on now.?
@saleena if she's breast feeding it might be something you are eating that's upsetting her stomach.
@saleena try propping her up for 20 to 30 minutes after feeding and also try burping her every few minutes as she eats. Sorry for assuming she was on formula

My nephew was on a mix of Zantac and special formula for his reflux, Alimentum I think. That helped him so much that his mom stopped the Zantac and he did fine with just the formula.

@saleena, I don't think he was prescribed it until like 6 weeks, but his got so bad that he actually started losing weight.
Can you get a second opinion at a new ped? Zantac is what my girls have been given. Google it for the generic otc equivalent. Hope this helps. But I would really just speak to your ped in earnest and ask for what you want and go from there.

He mentioned it but said it can make things worse so he won’t give her it. All my nephews and nieces have been on Zantac so I’m beyond confused!
@saleena : GERD has different causes. Depending on the cause and each case medication can in fact make it worse in the long run. It will help in the short term but causes the body to depend on the medicine. It ends one problem just to begin another one and makes it hard for the baby to come off of medication. I would ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist if you really are concerned so you can rest assured in the opinion given. It might be hard to watch but it may be just bad enough to cause her discomfort but not for medicine and need time for her to grow out of it. Hope we have all of help and that she feels better soon.
Also, how old is baby? Is she thriving otherwise? Gaining weight? Losing weight? Spitting up or vomiting? All of these questions should have been considered by your doctor.

Agree with ladies above. This is the only time that cereal can be beneficial! Surprised your doctor didn’t recommend it. I’d call and ask about it!

Cereal in the milk is a choking hazard. However, they do make a formula with added rice in it to make it thicker, specifically for babies with severe acid reflux.

It’s Ok To Put Cereal In The Milk. Both Of Mine Has Real Bad Acid Reflux. So That’s What My Mother In Law Told Me To Do And The Doctor Confirmed It.
I think its ok to put cereals in the milk I feed my baby cereal at 4 weeks bc milk wasnt keeping him full and it never hurts

i’m prob gonna get shit for this, & i’ve never done this to my baby, but when i was a baby i aspirated at 6 weeks because of acid reflux. i stopped breathing turned blue & i was taken to the hospital & put on all kinds of monitors, etc. before i could be put on any medications they told my parents to but cereal in my bottle, which made the milk heavier so it wouldn’t come back up bc of the reflux and wouldn’t cause me so much discomfort. it worked, and i know a lot of ppl don’t recommend it, like i said i didn’t do it for my baby, but i know it worked for my parents when i was a baby. just a suggestion!

@saleena, You’re welcome! Ppl frown upon it, but if you’re dealing w/ something like this it might help. You can try it & few times & if you don’t like it or don’t feel comfortable then you don’t have to keep doing it but it’s worth a try! Sucks they can’t give babies medication when it comes to things like this. it’s miserable. i’ve dealt with it aaaaall through my life
I love how I repeatedly told my father in law not to let my daughter root through the toy box because she doesn’t want anything out of it anyway and he keeps picking her up and taking her to the toy box no matter how many times I tell her no and tell him she doesn’t even want anything out of there anyway. At first I told him “only let her get one toy” so she picks one up and he is still holding her over the toy box then tries to put her over the baby gate so she can grab more. I’m sorry but you aren’t the one that has to pick up all these toys. You aren’t the one who has to put them back. He never picks up toys. Everyone wants to get the toys out for her out no one ever wants to help me pick them back up. The fact that I said not to let her get anything out of the box more than 5 times really pisses me off. You may be her grandparent but you aren’t her parent. So now I have mass toys to pic up on top of the toys she already had out from this morning
need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.

FTM problems... So I've made it pretty clear that I want to buy my daughter her fist Halloween costume. Her babysitter/nanny keeps saying she wanted to make her one. I told her yesterday that I wanted to find her something that my SO and I could dress up as a family. So I told her I am going to get it. She just text me and said 'not trying to step on your toes but I bought her two costumes'. She does this all the time. Anytime I want to do the "first" things with her she immediately does it. It's making me sad. Like I wish I could quit my job and be home with her.
Ok, so my friend is wanting to get pregnant but..... Her fiancé does not want kids, at lease for another 3-5 years he said... so she came up with the idea to have me pee on a stick for her and show it to him so that he’ll be comfortable with not wearing a condom and finishing in her.. basically the whole idea is to make him think she’s pregnant already...... so I do this favor for her or should I tell my girl to chill? He and my husband are friends through us and he’s going to invite him over tonight and run it by him...

My daughter had acid reflux really bad... Enfamil AR worked for her. I wouldn't do the cereal. @saleena
