My ex and I had talked over me moving with my ds with my dad. We're from California and I was moving to Arkansas to live with my dad.
It's something I had really thought about because my intention wasn't to take him from his father. Unfortunately the situation in California is becoming so hard. I live with my mom but she's been pushing me out and I can't afford to get my own place. The child support hardly pays for anything and I don't make hardly anything. I have to get 2-3 jobs if I want to afford anything. I don't mind that so much except my son is primarily with me and I just don't have enough help. His dad watches him 18 hours out of the week, the rest is solely on me. So who do I turn to to take my son to and from school, his meetings, watching him. I can't afford daycare even with assistance. Basically I'm getting no where but in more debt and poor without a place of my own to live.
Moving to arkansas with my dad and step mom allows me to get on my feet with the opportunity of more. In California there's no where for me to go but down. His dad had agreed and saw my point but now changed his mind. He's filing for custody to stop the move. Now I have to get a lawyer I can't even afford. I'm already in 15k debt and I'm only 24 with a 4 year old.
I'm upset. I know he's his dad but I offered summer and holiday breaks and he DENIED that because he said he'll be busy traveling for work. So I'm supposed to wait around without those even 18 hours a week now too while he travels just to watch me sink while he rises above? This is really hard because now I look like the bad one for leaving when I just want to actually be able to offer my son more without falling more and more in debt without a place of our own to live where we're not even welcome. My dad wants to help me.
What can I do now? 😞

Unfortunately if he’s started the process I don’t think you can leave the state. Maybe court will make him pay more child support and make him help with daycare costs

Different cities in California are cheap look up Barstow, Victorville high desert area I seen a one bedroom for $475 . Apply for child care. Good luck. Arkansas is a beautiful state to raise a child too.🙏🙏🙏on it hope things turn out well for you.

Thank you @linacorral1562 but I can barely stand the L.A. area where there's beach, I can't go to a hotter area. Usually if an area is that cheap in Cali it's for a reason too. I also just don't want to raise my son in the bad neighborhoods anymore either and I need help, moving that far would make it even harder. At least in Arkansas I'd have family but I really do appreciate the help and suggestions

@lafeamasbella have you been served at all? If you haven't check with the court to see if he actually filed and then go from there. Sometimes the courts can even recommend an no cost or affordable lawyer. Whatever you do don't move out of state until this is resolved.

I have not been served. I have consulted with attorneys and moving forward with an attorney is my best bet but it's so expensive 😩
