Your family is what you make it. It's not about how you were raised or how your spouse was raised, it's about how you envision your own family. If you are on a trajectory that you don't like, then change it! Do things differently while your kids are still young. They'll grow into it.

Thank you. It seems that he heard me and took it to heart, because yesterday went so well. We were actually a team for the first time in a long time, and the benefit to our children was pretty immediately recognizable.

@mathieujemm I hope it helps! We are terrible at communicating, but I'm really trying. I'm working on myself and trying to go from a person that bottles it all up to expressing myself with words. It's getting easier each time I have these conversations with my husband.
