How do you convince your mother that she needs to divorce her husband. Hes controlling, manipulative,selfish and just all around just broken. This weekend he "tried to commit suicide" i put it in quotations because it was attention seeking more than a suicide attempt. We were gone for 2 days doing a benefit for my son (he was invited but didnt want to go) then he was upset cuz i wouldnt have the babysitter drop my girls off with him by the time we were on our way home he was sending my mom messages saying tell my mom dad n brother i love them ect.. He told my mom he took a bunch of sleeping pills in his suicide attempt. I took that shit seriously and told his brother and mom. My mom talked with him this morning and told him he needs help but he says he doesnt need professional help he needs his family to listen to him more. Idk what more we can do he already controls every aspect of everyones life. He drains their bank accounts then begs me for money and gets mad when i dont hand it over but pay every bill myself. Hes an addict and has been for 15+ years. He wont fix himself but expects everyone to change around him to cater to his needs. Now i did take his attempt seriously. And told numerous family members and even my sons doctors in hopes someone could guide me on what to do. Everyone pretty much said because hes an adult he would have to get help himself but he refuses. And just to clarify why i said i think it was more of an attention seeking attempt is because 1 we have a gun in the house that only he has access to and because of him being an. Recovering addict he has much stronger pills than sleeping pills that he couldve attempted with.hes on suboxone, adderall, and who knows what else cuz his "pshycologist" writes out perscriptions like its going out of style. Sorry for the rant and sounding like a heartless asshole but theres a huge backstory to this that i just dont wanna get into at this time but this is just another stress that has been added onto my already overfilled stress plate.
