I literally have to only give my dad and his gf enough for 1 bottle when I drop him off there every Tuesday because last week they were about to give him 6oz in an hour like are you crazy they said because he was crying, play with him give him attention and he won't cry pick him up and walk around with him. I told him he gets 3 oz at 7pm they ended up not giving him the 3 oz till 7:30 and we got there at 8:30 to pick him up and was feeding him again I lost my mind it pisses me off bc he has a schedule and they totally didn't listen

Oh and babies drink more the older they get. For a formula fed baby, it's normal to eventually drink 8oz in one feeding..So theres nothing wrong with him having 6oz in an hour.
And I'm not trying to be rude, just giving you some advice

@jenny955 I'm sorry he was in the Nicu he is very handsome. I'm glad everything seems to be going well now. I agree. I'm always telling drs off if they're treating you bad tell them, my peads dr for my daughter treated me like I was dumb at times for worrying so much about my daughter.. and I called her out on it and explained my fears to her... i have a rare disease so I am a worry wart when it comes to my child... but ever since i called her out on being crappy to me she is alot nicer now and more understanding. Not all drs are like that sadly. But I would try calling the dr out on it first and if they are still crappy then for sure switch. :)
She did the exact same thing, I said I feel bad that hes getting a shot and she was like you shouldn't feel bad your keeping him safe like what the he'll I feel bad that it's going to hurt

@jenny955 in the beginning yes. Her poop changed but then it went back to normal. I think it was just her getting used to the change. But for sure find a dr you like it makes it so much easier. :) Not all drs are the best. You'll find one you like in no time. :)
My son was in the NICU so they just referd me there I couldn't leave unless I had an appt scheduled. So time to change lol
I never followed a set schedule with my daughter. When she was hungry she ate. Which in the beginning was every two hours. She also was formula fed and we went through three different formulas to help her with her gas issue. Also gas drops help too. :) Being a first time mom is tough you learn all of these new things for your child. But you'll get the hang of it. Do what you feel is best for you child. In the end that is what I did with mine and it worked out a lot better. :) goodluck to you.

It’s usually recommended to feed on demand when they’re this young, but 6oz in an hour does seem a bit much for a 1 month old. I know when my son was that age he’d sometimes eat a ridiculous amount in a short period of time on some days.
@jenny955, Is she older? The scheduled feeding and concern about a newborn being overweight is old school. Don’t hesitate to find a doctor you’re more comfortable with if she’s being rude. Being a ftm with a newborn is hard, and we rely on our pediatricians to help us out and answer our questions when we have them.

Just keep in mind that babies love their mamas..so when your dad has him and he cries, he might just want his mommy and if your dad needs to feed him to calm him down, theres nothing wrong with that. Getting extra milk isnt going to hurt him.
He gets 3 oz every 3 hours and 4oz threw out the night because he sleeps 4-5 at a time
Some days my son eats every half hour from the boob. It’s cluster feeding.

@jenny955, does he always cry because if gas after every feeding? And is it more of gas because he hasn’t been burped or just gas in general because I know sometimes that can be a side effect of the formula not settling well with them.

He's probably cluster feeding mama. They usually go through a growth spurt around 5-6 weeks so they eat more often & he'll go thru many more spurts...
