From a recent post of mine & just conversation with friends, I’m noticing a lot of people found out “Santa wasn’t real” because of the writing on the tags being the same as their parents hand writing, or from the gift wrap.
So, I wanted to share what we did growing up, and what I do for my child(ren). ❤️🎄🎁
We use a Santa sack! Only the gifts from Santa arrive in this sack. I don’t label them at all since it’s all from Santa. I only label the gifts from mom & dad. This way there is no writing to compare.
Growing up my parents were divorced, and still the sacks would arrive on Christmas Eve at either parents house. Wherever we happened to be staying that holiday. It was nice for my parents (and now myself) because they would just go ahead and put all the gifts under the tree except the santa sack. This helped with only needing to hide one bag instead of a million gifts.
Personally Ive learned I prefer basic wrapping (solid color) for the gifts inside the sack, but that’s totally up to preference. I also put the less expensive gifts in the Santa sack. Or, homemade looking (Etsy) gifts. This way, when my child is 6 or 7ish, she won’t go to school bragging about how Santa brought her an iPad or something while a classmate didn’t get such a pricy gift. I’d hate for another child to wonder why Santa brought one kid something expensive and not the other. And, the santa sack is large, but probably only fits about 10 gifts max. This way it’s also not looking as if santa gave one child way more than another. Again, that’s personal preference. You can put whatever you want inside the sack!
What my mom did also: we’d (the kids) would wake up and run and open the santa sack. Once we saw what Santa brought us, then we’d make donuts together, and eat. Then when we were done eating we’d go back and open all the gifts from mom & stepdad / family .
It helped stretch the day out, and it’s a wonderful memory I hold on to.
At my dads we’d just wake up and open it all at once, haha.
I just thought I’d share my tradition. I think this is part of the reason I believed so long when I was a child.
The only thing you really have to do is keep the sack(s) well hidden during the year. I asked my mom where she kept ours, and she said she just kept them folded in a duffle bag in the truck of her car. For me? I make my sister keep the sack at her house with her Christmas stuff. This way my daughter never finds it. 🤷🏼♀️🎁
It works for us! ❤️❤️❤️

I always did all the present wrapping, what we would do is have a hidden roll of wrapping paper and all the presents from Santa were always wrapped differently and I would use different hand writing.
Santa writes in pen. Mom and me write with sharpie and I make it big and messy and large

Absolutely! I noticed that’s what most people said the giveaway was!
Just yesterday I went to target and got plain red and plain brown wrapping paper and I’m just going to use that in the sack this year. Luckily Faye is only 3 and she’s only just now really understanding who Santa is this year, so she didn’t notice last year or the year before that I used the same wrapping paper as mom & dads gifts, hah! But, from here on out I’m just going to use basic paper that she can’t compare. 😂

Cute idea. What do you do if there’s multiple kids and you don’t label the gifts?

They each get their own sack with their name on it. 🤗 So, once my second is born I’ll order another one with their name on the front of the sack.
You can find them anywhere by just googling “santa sack” or even on amazon I believe.
I found mine on Etsy for $20.00 ish.
