I don’t hate my parents for letting me believe. In fact, I don’t know one person who hates their parents for letting them believe.

I see a lot of: “I’m not gonna lie to my child” posts about Santa. And I’m talking from day one. How do you not let a two year old believe in Santa?

My thoughts? I love the magic and joy that is Santa, and Christmas and the real meaning of Christmas all in one. Ill “lie” to my child. Definitely. I’ll let her enjoy the magic for the few short years she’ll believe.

🎄✨

Let the kiddies have fun! I get so irritated when parents don't let their children believe or celebrate...even though it ain't my business😂😂 like it's harmless fun geez. Once when a Jehovah witness came.to my door trying to convince me to go over to the dark side, I asked them about not celebrating stuff and he said they don't celebrate anythang, i said oh no I'm waiting for Santa right now and the tooth fairy gotta appt tonight 😂 bye!

I grew up thinking he was real and I wish my parent wouldn’t have... and im not gonna lie to my child. I want to install that christmas isnt real, its not Jesus’ birthday, there’s no such thing as santa or holiday “magic”... there is such a thing as family time and gift giving (but not just on christmas,

it can be any day of the year)

Igdaf what everybody else does with their kid or why they celebrate christmas, to each their own. 🤷🏻‍♀️ im not a Jehovah’s Witness or any specific classification that prevents me from celebrating this holiday, I just dont want to idolize this strange man... im gonna tell my kid that the people that give her the gifts are her family members because they love her... im not gonna be a complete jerk about it if she asks me about santa and ill also instruct her to not rain on other kids parade if they believe 😕

I understand that everyone celebrates different and that every child is different as well. If I saw in my children’s eyes that they believe then I probably wouldn’t be able to discourage them. 😂 I’m a sucker but my children are more like me don’t really care they love the lights and decor and the sweets and they love giving that’s all I care for that I’m making good memories to look back on.

I always knew he didn’t exist. Growing up it was about Jesus, we all would decorate together listen to Christmas music, make food & bake. Christmas was always my favorite holiday that’s what I treasure time with my family. I also don’t regret not believing in him. And I never wanted to take pictures with him either, something about sitting on a stranger mans lap was alway weird to me. I never told my daughter he doesn’t exist but she automatically says he doesn’t, that he’s just a fictional character like paw patrol. She’s very old for her age. But I’m also not going to tell them he exist and to idolize a character. I want them to know it’s about Jesus coming to save us, it’s about giving to the less fortunate and about being with family.

We celebrate it all. We have toddler friendly books that explain the real meaning of the holiday that we read at night before bed. And, with my husbands work we all go one day and help at the food bank. Granted, we could do more than that one day, that’s true. It’s really fun though! The entire company goes on the same day and makes a day of it. But, my daughter definitely fully believes in Santa and it just makes my heart so full. The magic is real to her, and it’s absolutely precious to me.

But, this post was mainly about how I’m seeing people openly admit to shutting down the questions and outright telling their small children that santa isn’t real when they ask about him. Children who are still so small, and so full of magic. It breaks my soul to think about a little one coming to me talking about Santa and me just saying, “No. He’s not real.” all while they clearly believe. It’s just sad to me. If they come to learn and realize on their own, then okay! That’s totally fine. We all grow up at sometime. But, why break the magic just because you don’t want to “lie to my child”. Ya know?

Til this day, my parents talk to us about Santa as if he’s real. Growing up, I knew it was my parents because of the writing on the tags and the same wrapping paper as everyone else’s gifts. But they always said if we didn’t provide a Santa letter (not a list) explaining why we deserve what we want then no presents for us. But I loved the magic my mom put into Christmas and I can only hope I can do the same for my kids!!

We love the magic of the Christmas season! We do Elf on the Shelf too. It just adds something special to the season, and I love the excitement my son has and the anticipation for Santa 🎅🏻❤️

Yes! I’m going to introduce an elf this year! I figure even if she doesn’t totally get it, she’ll have memories NEXT year and be like, “ohh yeah!”, ❤️

I’m letting my kids believe!

BUT I was so upset and hurt when I found out as a kid. I found out unicorns weren’t real, then went down the list, at least my mom was honest then. I felt like I couldn’t trust anyone, I had no clue WHY they would lie, but I still wanted presents so talked it up to my little sister. I did get over it, but in the deep dark parts of my thoughts I’m still a little ugh about it. Lol- the honest truth.

I found out by flipping through the tv and randomly hearing stupid Conan O’Brien say, “it’s okay to let your children believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Toothfairy, but blah blah blah.” I was PISSED. Granted, I was like 10. I should have known better, but I was only pissed because the magic was gone then. I was upset that it was all over with, but I was never angry with my parents. Hind sight, I believed so long because my mom did so much to make the magic of the holiday extra magical. And, I’m doing the same for my child(ren) as well. I almost look at it as you’re being an extra good parent when you go all out to make sure your babies’ holidays are the absolute best.

(I still hate Conan O’Brien to this day. 😂 Id much rather my mom had told me than that shitty man. 🙄😂)

@kingstons_mommaaa, ohhh! Hahaha! I read it with the wrong emphasis on the wrong word, lol. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

SO true though! Some of these people don’t want to “lie” to their kids but they sit there in a garbage relationship.

Priorities. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Our 7&5 year old know the truth because their mom told them but I’m gonna try and let mine believe in it as long as possible even the 7 year old tells my 2 year old he isn’t real I think believing in him and all the magic makes it so much more special and fun

I believed until I was like 11 🤣 my daughter is 3 and she loves everything about Santa. Kids grow up so fast so giving them a mystery to solve on their own and at their own pace helps them develop their imaginations. That’s what makes it fun! I remember when I used to make plots to catch Santa and would try to listen for sleigh bells and it builds anticipation. I’ve honestly never heard of anyone being upset when they find out the truth. Either way I love that my daughter believes she loves everything about Christmas and Santa. To each it’s own though.

My mother NEVER let us believe in Santa, the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny.. anything... she said that when we were born she promosed us she wouls never lie to us and she didnt want us to be able to come to her later if we got caught for lying and be able to throw that in her face.

I will let my child believe as long as she wants to. You're giving them good times and fun memories. If they are mad at you for it later, it isn't going to be held onto for very long. Childhood is supposed to be full of that.

@jennatess I do feel cheated out of it. My grandma tried to do it for me when I was there but it was pushed so hard to not believe in it. I never disliked Christmas but it never seemed to have the same excitement as all the other kids around me.

@bigsisfinallymommy, it’s so interesting to hear this! I work with a girl who has a 4 year old son, and she said she never lets him even mention santa in a real sense. Blows my mind! I feel like it’s so special. Not only for the child, but for the parents.
