After a crazy few days, I finally have a chance to share my birth story.

Thursday Nov 8th I had my last OB appointment. She checked me and I had absolutely no change from the previous week. I was 2cm dilated and 80% effaced. So I thought I would for sure go past my due date which was Nov 9th.

Hubby and I went to dinner after my appointment and I decided to have some spicy food. Then came home and thought what the heck, let’s try doing the deed then went to bed.

I woke up between 1-130am with some mild contractions but enough where I couldn’t get comfortable or make them ease up, most of the pain was in my back. I didn’t want to be one to get to the hospital too early so I waited until around 10am to call my doctor. She asked me to come in to be monitored and then checked me. That was at 11am. My contractions were every 3-6 minuets or so and when she checked me I was (only) at 4cm but sent me to labor and delivery. Totally wasn’t expecting to be told that!

Once I was sent over to L&D they got me hooked up to IV and asked if I planned on getting an epidural. I told them I would likely get one but didn’t quite need it just yet because I thought it slowed down the labor process. My doctor came in to talk to me and said the opposite actually happens once you get an epidural because it allows you to relax. So I went ahead and got it around 1230pm when I was at 5cm. It worked at first but shortly after I could feel contractions on my right side. It took awhile but they got it to work again. After they figured that out my OB broke my water at 1:20pm

She came in a little later and asked if she could give me pitocin to speed things up because she wanted to deliver me instead of the on call person. I said sure, I couldn’t feel anything anyways- so why not speed it up! I want to say the pitocin was given around 2pm.

They checked me around 4pm and I was at 7cm and my doctor was only there until 430pm 😒 the on call doctor came in and checked me at 430pm and I was at 10cm and ready to push. Well my husband decided to go get dinner so we had to wait for him to get back 😂

I shot him a text and he came right back up and got to the room just before 5pm. I started pushing at 5pm and at 5:26pm our precious Daisy Leigh was born!

Everything went so well. I never expected my delivery to be so calm and actually enjoyable. However, I was upset with the on call doctor as she did cut me. My OB doesn’t do that and says it’s better to tear. So in the end I ended up being cut and tearing my labia 😖 I didn’t know that was even possible! I asked how many stitches I had and she said she doesn’t know but she used two packs of sutures on me so needless to say I am very sore down there.

Overall mama and baby are happy and healthy! 💕
