Good morning mommas! So we have our 2 week appointment today for babygirl. Last night was a rough one. Babygirl was on my breast for like 2 hours last night and when she woke up she was still hungry so i tried to pump but only got an ounce which wasnt enough because my little one eats alot. I luckily had some Similac Advance formula and was able to feed her and get her to sleep. I felt helpless and like i wasnt doing enough for her though.. I was worried about how it would affect her tummy..we have devoted more time for burping and she hasnt spit up but i was worried she was too young to start formula feeding so i feel guilty.. If theres any moms out there that are going through this or have been through it i could use some advice/support.
I know one thing is i need to eat more..my husband suggested alarms and reminders and maybe that would help my milk supply come back? Going to talk to babys doctor today just wanted to post here to get other moms words as well. Trying to utilize any source i can.
Definitely not too young for formula. We've always done combination feeding from day one and our babies are perfectly healthy. Just feed your baby! That's what's best.
no baby is too young for formula, you werent producing enough at the time for her and thats okay at least you still fed her😊 fed is best💪😍 my son was 33W2D when he was born & had to be fed formula & my breastmilk, he was in the NICU for 39 days. Those 39 days i pumped like crazy! When i was at the hospital visiting my son i pumped and breastfed💕 water!!! drink lots of water!!! i drank so much lol... i would get to see my son about 2 times a week because i live 3 hours away from the NICU so while i was at home i would be pumping, my sessions would be every 2 hours i was pumping at first for 30 minutes and i gradually started pumping longer, i got up to 1 hour & 45 minutes getting 8oz out of each breast 💪
Keep hydrated too mama. Also just let her latch as much as she wants. Your milk is still coming in and trying to regulate. If you supplement too much you’ll lose your supply. She’s likely clusterfeeding.
@santistevanmommie oh okay yeah lately its been like all night when my nipples arent so sore and she feeds all night. Is she not getting an adequate amount then? And i use lanolin cream after every feeding but it wasnt helping. I also tried hot compresses before and after feeding. Thank you for your words btw!
@kingpatience66, make sure she’s getting a good deep latch that could be why your nipples are sore as well.
And no she likely is their tummies are very tiny at this age. Is she having plenty of wet and poopy diapers?
Breastfeeding is kinda hard to tell in ounces how much they’re getting but if they’re having good diaper output it’s a good sign she’s getting plenty.
Also, a pump will not get out near as much milk as your little one does
@santistevanmommie she has been having lots of poopy ones for the most part. Yesterday not as much just a couple wet ones. Her poop is normal like its supposed to be. And she latches very well shes just kinda rough with her gums rubbing on them. Since ive been pumping it has brought down the pain immensely now when i do nurse its alot more bearable than before when she was nursing all the time. Shes a very hungry baby it seems and all the time. But when i get a good amount of breast milk from the pump she seems to be more satisfied like she wasnt getting enough by just nursing alone. I just want to be a good mommy and make sure shes getting everything she needs so i worry alot..

I wanted to do one of these before our breastfeeding journey ended. I have a feeling it’s soon 😔 since her dr has us giving her formula to give her more calories, I’m finding it difficult to give her breastmilk as well. She gets full off of me alone so she doesn’t want the formula if I breastfeed her first. And if I give her formula first, she doesn’t want the breastmilk. I’ve been alternating feedings but that’s just caused my supply to drop. She’s getting chunky, though. That’s all I care abou...
I hate my generation sometimes ?
Today was my nieces baby shower, which went great. She got so much which amazing since she's been working 2 jobs trying to save up for the unpaid leave she'll have to take from work. Anyways I was talking to one of the ladies there since my son and her daughter were playing together. I asked her what her daughters name was, she said it was Layla. I told her that's a really pretty name and asked her if she was a Clapton fan and if she was named after the song. Th...
So idk if I’m an asshole for thinking this but a girl I used to go to school with is having her 3rd kid and she’s planning a baby shower and she had one with her other two. I feel like a baby shower is something you do with ur first pregnancy. I live far from my family so I didn’t have one but i did have a baby registry and I’m not even doing that with this pregnancy. Idk I just feel like 3 baby showers is a lot! Especially when she gets things handed to her. Idk maybe I’m an ass for thinking that
Hey girlies! I plan on breast feeding my LO as much as I can. I also plan to formula feed when needed. Have any of you moms tried organic formulas? How was it? Experience?
Rant!
My sitter used cottonelle wet wipes on my baby! Now she has huge rash!!! I totally get that my SO forgot to put the wipes in her diaper bag. But she could have told one of us and we could have brought her some or she could have went to the store and I could pay her back. I don't get it. She buys her clothes and toys, takes her places while I'm at work. The store is literally a 5 minute walk from her house. But she decided cottonelle wipes are ok? Ugh. Rant over.
Based on your previous comments I think you don’t have a good enough latch. Make sure your baby is sucking not only in your nipple but that she has areola in her mouth too. When I was in the hospital I was taught to pinch my nipple and areola and let baby latch like that so baby will have a deep latch. We’ve been breastfeeding since baby was born and I don’t get nipple pain because I make sure he gets a good latch. Go on YouTube and look up breastfeeding tutorials they should help.
