Remember how when we were kids everybody got chicken pox at least once? Didn't you ladies get it growing up? Is that still common or?

I got chicken pox when I was a kid and now I will be getting the shingles next in my life.
No, it's not that common anymore because kids get a vaccine for it.
My sister and I never got them.
But I’ve heard of this thing where groups of people will get together with peoples kids who have chicken pox so their kids get it. Not really a good idea since if you get chicken pox you can develop shingles later in life.

I never got it. My sister did, and they think that may have led to her developing diabetes a few years later.
I heard of some parents trying to infect their kids with it from another sick kid, but there's a vaccine now so I don't know why people are intentionally getting their kids sick and risking complications. My friend had the blisters in her nose, her throat, inside her eyelids 😖 and then there's shingles later in life. My stepmom had those and she said it was the worst time of her life.
My parents made us get it. ...Don't know how i feel about that.
@mhbb3, the vaccine only came out like what, 20 years ago? Before that the only way to make sure you wouldn't get it as an adult was to get it as a child. So, 20+ years ago parents did the best they could. My dad even said that when my sister had it they hoped that I'd catch it too. But, as I was the only kid in my entire grade who didn't get it, they decided I had a natural immunity.

I had it. My 2 oldest had it at 4 yrs and 8 months.
You only get chicken pox once if at all. However, after you've had chicken pox you can get shingles.
I had chicken pox when I was around 5.
I never got it. I hear it's worse add adults but I never had it
