Finally going to get round to this birth story so we went to hospital for 11.30 on Thursday when I got there i had to be monitored for half hour and examined the midwife gave me a stretch and sweep and inserted a pessary prostin at 1pm I was 1cm dilated I then had to stay on the monitor for an hour and then I was allowed to move around so me and the other half walked around the hospital and went and had some lunch and absolutely nothing was happening at 17.30 the midwife put me back on the monitor and I started getting some slight pains in my back and cramps in the top of my legs at 19.30 I was having watery discharge but it wasn’t my waters I was examined and the midwife gave me my second lot of prostin at 20.00 I started getting pretty regular pains but they weren’t strong and I had to spend another hour on the monitor I was then 2cms dialated. At 21.00 the night midwife came and introduced her self my pains had gotten stronger and I asked for some co-codamol we were told that if I weren’t 4cms by 2100 my partner would have to leave but the midwife said as my pains were very regular and coming very fast she would get the dr to check me and see if he could break my waters then send me over to labour ward so at 21.30 a lovely dr came examined me and broke my waters I was now 3cms dialated he asked me if I wanted some pain relief and I asked for gas and air after that the rest is pretty much a blur I remember getting my gas and air around 21.45 and at 22.00 the midwife from labour ward asked me if I could walk my pains at this point were really intense and not like I’d ever experienced before they were coming in my back pelvis and thighs so I told her I couldn’t they took my gas and air off me much to my disappointment and moved me to labour ward on the bed my midwife was lovely and the time was about 22.15 I don’t remember much but I got my gas and air back and then the midwife asked me if a student paramedic could watch I started getting the urge to push but was in so much pain and so high I didn’t say anything the midwife said if you feel you need to push let me know so I told her I was already pushing she told the paramedic to push the alarm as she didn’t have a birth pack ready and as baby was measuring big she would need an extra pair of hands she then said I need to examine you as I don’t want you pushing if your cervix isn’t dialated much to her surprise I was already 10cms and with 4 big pushes our little girl was born at 22.40 weighing 8lb 8ozs
