With my 2nd, my doctor wanted to jump right to a csection but I didn't want that. I asked about being induced the day before my scheduled csection and he said ok. The funny thing is, he told me to go into L&D and tell them I was contracting so they would take me in and buy some time for him talk to them and say keep me. I was contracting a little but nothing crazy, I figured it would pass. Got into the hospital, the put me on the monitor, I continued contracting and then they told me I was dilated to a 4 and were going to keep me anyway. After an hour or so they said they didn't need to induce me, baby was coming just fine on his own to my surprise and he was born at 5:14pm that evening lol

I got to pick any day after 39wks before 40+1. I'm being induced on my due date. I am hugh risk and unforseen issues came up. I would wait as long as doctor would permit unless you hit 40wks, them go for it.

From what my doctor told me as long as me and baby are healthy were aloud to go until 42 weeks but she said after my ultrasound (I'll be 40 +2) if everything's healthy I can pick when to be induced or if something seems wrong theyll probably do it that day or the next, but every doctor and pregnancy is different if all is healthy though you could probably pick when although they usually dont want you to until after 40 weeks

What reasons are you being given by your provider for wanting to induce? I am a firm believer that induction and other interventions should only be used when there are legitimate concerns for the well being of the mother and child. Whatever you decide is your choice and I hope all goes well, but unless there is a reason I would politely tell my provider that is not an option. Regardless, praying for a happy healthy baby and mama in the end.

I’m high risk and baby is good but she doesn’t want me to go beyond 40 weeks

@rachpezzuto Praying for you and baby. I would talk to my provider in that case and get all the details based on what makes you high risk as an individual and see if they will plan to schedule you as close to your due date as possible. I have elderly friends whose daughter just gave birth naturally to her first daughter at the age of 47 on the day she was scheduled for induction. She was very high risk due to age, symptoms during pregnancy, and past miscarriage, but they scheduled her just 3 days before her due date and the baby came on its own. Maybe you will get that outcome as well. I really hope all goes well for you and that your provider can help you with your decision so you can be as calm and stress free as possible. Best of wishes!!!!
