So I went into preterm labor around 30-31 weeks pregnant. They gave me a medication to help slow contractions. Well so far I haven’t really been feeling them until yesterday. I timed them and once again they were 1-2 minutes apart and they last for quite a few hours. Today I am still getting them but I’ve been on my feet a lot and I haven’t had time to count them. I’m at a loss on what to do. I don’t want to go to l&d if they are going to induce me because I’m sure that’s what they will do since they can’t do anything else to stop the contractions but I really want to keep this baby in longer but I also don’t want to be staying at home when I should be getting help at the hospital as I am 40 minutes away from my hospital. I don’t want to wait and something happen but I also don’t want to go and them tell me there is nothing they can do but induce me (if I’ve dilated more)

Update: the contractions still stood yesterday but as evening came around, I started to get sharp painful cramping. It would last for a second and go away and then come back. It would almost bring me to my knees but I never went into l&d. Are those types of cramping normal? I didn’t know if they were something that a lot of women get in the third trimester

I also went into pre term labor at 33 weeks and they have me on nifedipine and it has helped slow down contractions . They haven’t completely stopped I have them randomly but nothing consistent . If you are having consistent contractions I would call your dr and more the likely they will have you go in . I actually stop my medicine on Saturday and we will see what happens after that .

@laniejay, well they already gave me shots to stop it, mag treatment, and steroids for baby. I’m just nervous they can’t do anything else 😭

They can do mag again. Not sure if the shots can be repeated. And if you are to deliver early the mag is helpful! It helps with lung development, but also protects the brain from bleeds. You don’t want to risk having baby at home. Sometimes out is better than in, but they try hard to keep baby in.

You should speak with your doctor ASAP. Likely they’ll try to stop it again.
