Holy cow that's so cool! We have a landscaping business, and we've been talking and preparing to do exactly what you're doing. I also LOVE that you're looking at an old house. I grew up in a six bedroom farmhouse that was built in the 1800's. My mom ended up restoring it, which was a big project but SO rewarding. She and my stepdad (who had once built houses for a living) did the work themselves to keep it as cheap as possible.

@squishymommy1 Look at it this way...houses that were built back in the day were built to last forever. The house I live in was built in 2006. When my landlord heard we were looking to buy, he gave us a price on this place. After discussing all the repairs that it needs, we concluded that it would be cheaper to tear it down and start over. I hope you at least get to look at it in real life to see exactly what it is!

Also since it was built that early check the paint to see if it’s lead. They didn’t start banning lead paint until 1969/70

@sassybitch, oh we are totally going to see it if my husbands company sells. The very next day 🤣😂. It’s beautiful and the view and everything. The only thing I’d touch is the kitchen.

Bacon home😂😂. Dayum- the 4square colonial down the street from me on .25 acres is almost that much. That would be multiple millions here, esp on the water

@laniejay, the price also has me asking what’s wrong with it honestly. Housing is fairly expensive here.

I used to live in Bellingham, just left a week ago matter of fact. I too love that neighborhood and house. There’s something about that area, plus the schools are great in that neighborhood. But yeah, I sense an expensive construction project and possibly foundation issue considering the price, that alone might make me cringe. However, life is too short not to live out your dreams, right? Definitely consider, but do your research first. There’s a lot of beautiful places out there.

@fairykarmamomma, my oldest goes to Sehome and would stay there (we are districted for Bellingham and did a transfer). The other kids are in Geneva and Kulsan because we are currently in Sudden Valley and have been there a year so it wouldn’t be a big deal to move them to Columbia and Whatcom middle. It’s my DREAM house. But I can’t honestly fathom why it’s so cheap unless they are seriously hard up. They’ve already dropped it 100k and it’s only been on the market just over 2 months.
