My son was drinking 3 ounces at 2 weeks old. His doctor also said that was a bit much, but all my other children moved up fast with the ounces. I continued to give him as much as he wants, he stops if he doesnt want any more. Hes now a month drinking 4 ounces to 5 and is doing fine.
I would read up on paced feeding and start that. 1.5-2oz per lb of body weight per day is the average. So 11.5lbs = 17.25oz to 23oz per day / 12 feeds (every 2 hours) is 1.5-1.9oz per feed. That’s if he does every 2 hours around the clock, but you get the gist of it to calculate.
Burp every .5 ounces at that age and let it take 5 mins per half ounce (when he gets older it’s for every ounce) the hormone that triggers being full takes 15 mins or so to take affect- so before that they’ll suck down all they can.
I'm gunna try to do 3oz every three hours he's a healthy weight because he's 84th percentile but he's almost over weight so I gotta be careful

Hmm, my son's doctor said to not go over 4oz until he was a month old and even then she didn't want him eating that much. Every doctor is different of course. How much does your son weigh?
11 pounds 7.8oz he was born 7 pounds 8oz but he was in the NICU for a week so he only got lectrolights threw his belly button and some fat. I told them is it normal for him to be that weight at 1 month and she said you should never be concerned about his weight like yes I am I'm his mother and if he's gaining to fast then I will cut down on the milk
Doctor said he's making up weight that he didn't gain in the NICU bc he wasn't getting milk yet
@jenny955 my son was 11lbs at his 1 month check up and he was born 8lbs 0oz. I think your son's weight is okay, especially since he was in the NICU. I didn't do paced feeding as I had absolutely no idea what that is. But, I did give my son 3-4oz every 3 hours for about the first 2 months.
Are you paced feeding? That is a lot for a 1 month old. You’re stretching his belly
I thought they could have 4oz when they hit one month well he's getting 3oz now every 2 hours. Now I know
Now I'm scared I messed his belly up😞 but I didn't know but some baby's eat more their all different. Then another doctor told me if their hungry then their hungry I don't always see the same doc every appt so its confusing
At Wic they told me 4oz of formula is too much for my newborn so if I start giving him breastmilk, will this apply? Will 4oz of breastmilk every 2-3 hours be too much ??
I have a question my son is 2 months old and is 12 pounds he was 8 pounds when he was born He is on eating 6 oz every 3 31/2 hour at night he goes 8 hours with out eating does anyone else baby eat this much

How many of you waiting to use a crib till they got older my son will wake up every 3 hours in it crying he hates it but I put him in it every time he passes out should be used to it by now but if he doesn't sleep in it he will sleep like 7 hours at a time
