As I said in my last post, I am 27 weeks 4 days pregnant. I had an ultrasound yesterday and my baby is measuring in the 5th percentile for growth. My doctor didn’t seem concerned because my son wasn’t a big baby when he was born and both my boyfriend and I are fairly small people.
But of course I went to google when I got home and read up on it and all I found was baby’s being stillborn and early because they were so small. Has anyone had experience with something like this that can help ease my mind a little?
I go back for another growth ultrasound in 4 weeks and I think if my doctor was truly concerned it would be sooner than that.
Sorry for the long post.
@girlmom., thank you! My son was small and is now 30 pounds and not even two yet 😅 he had a very short cord so maybe that is the case with this one as well. Just nice to hear that it doesn’t always mean something is bad/wrong if they are measuring little.
There is someone on here who has a condition in which the baby doesn’t get all of the needed nutrients from the placenta. Her first and second pregnancy were like that. They will be inducing her early, and monitoring more closely.
@valerie_jean, I knew better too! 😅But now that I have it’s all I’ve been thinking about.
I don’t think that ultrasounds are always completely accurate.. At my 36 week ultrasound my baby measured in the 4th percentile. I got a level 2 ultrasound 2 days later that showed she was in the 20th percentile. She was born a little over 2 weeks after that weighing a perfectly healthy 7lbs 13 oz.. I worried myself sick over nothing!
