@mellisagonzalez15, I understand that we have 2 that go to a psychiatrist now and they don’t really say much to her so I’m not sure what good it’s doing

@tristan-makes-5, yeah we have calm sit downs all the time but it just seems to go threw one ear and out the other

I have 4 out of the 5 kids I have have this to but we tried and tried for years with out meds and when they were getting kicked out of schools because of it we had no choice but to give meds. I’m not sure what advice to give you that might help I’m sure like my self you have tried and thought about most everything. Hang in there and I hope things get better. Have you tried having him talk to someone it kinda help 2 of my boys.

I saw that you have a 2 month old too. Has his behavior changed at all since you were pregnant or had his brother? How do his other caregivers respond to his behavior?

I swear by limiting tv time.
Nothing works for my girls. So I cut their tv time to 1 hour a day. They behave so much better since I did that

@mellisagonzalez15, once he’s evaluated and you really know what you’re up against it’ll be so much easier to get resources for things like therapy or coping mechanisms.
Also, by spanking him you are teaching him that when you’re frustrated, hitting is an appropriate response. But I agree, your first step should definitely be evaluation. Maybe speak to a school counselor so they can help guide you. They may also be able to give you those resources to cope in the mean time.

@mswedes, i don’t punish him for anything but trying to get him to understand hitting his parents is not okay and talking back is not okay and I’m not saying i would deny him meds but meds don’t always need to be giving and yes i am going to get him evaluated but If he doesn’t get meds i don’t want them to be just for him being hyper i want to help ease his anger and fidgeting him

It takes a long time to find meds that work. Just because your sister had a bad experience it doesn’t mean your child will. It also seems unfair to punish him for things he can’t help/symptoms of his adhd. I’d look into having him evaluated first but to me, denying your kids meds (when they need it) is like not getting your kids glasses when their vision is weak. Something is lacking chemically that meds may help balance out. It isn’t a sign of weakness.

My sister was on meds but it made her zombie like and she got into a lot of trouble at school
