How Many Outfits Should You Pack for the Hospital?

I only did a go home outfit. My hospital requires baby to wear the hospital provided gown to make their checks easier.

I packed coming home outfit which was 0-3 months, one blanket and just put that in his diaper bag which I didn’t need because hospital provided everything plus a swaddle and pacifier I just wanted it in case we didn’t go straight home

Car seat covers should only be used on the way to the car. They should be removed once in the car. If you get into an accident they could catch fire and engulf the seat and everything else easier.

You could also go with one of these i wanted one for my two older kids but family members bought me something else so i am gonna get one this time around

This is what i went with i did 3 outfits and i also wish i would have packed a back scrater, there are things they will provide for you and for baby... my hospital didnt provide pacifiers but would.allow you to bring them so i did he ended up not like them till a few days later lol

@momtothe3rdpower, do you have a picture? My baby will also be born in January. They make car seat covers so the baby stays warm inside. I would definitely get one of those. I’m buying 1.

@bigmama18, I guess snowsuit wasn’t the right word. It’s like sweatshirt material... thinner than an actual snowsuit. He’ll be born in January in Minnesota, I def want him to be warm. I know poofy snow jackets aren’t allowed in car seats but what about sweatshirt material one piece suits over clothes?

@momtothe3rdpower, you definitely won’t need that snowsuit. The baby can’t wear it in the car seat so just keep that at home. I think 2 outfits of both sizes is enough. Maybe some onsies.

So both hospitals I’ve delivered at check the baby very frequently. This is hard to do if you constantly have them in little outfits. Plus my babies spent 95% of the hospital stay on me, skin to skin. I only brought an outfit to go home in and the rest of the time baby stayed in a diaper. Hospital also provides the receiving blankets and hats.

@soon-2b-mother-of-3, mine will be born in January too. I’m thinking something similar to your list. I have a snow suit for him, socks and booties for each of the two piece going home outfits and then some zip up outfits for the hospital stay... I know babies puke and poo and pee a lot and I have a lot of kids already so I should know what to pack hahaha but I still feel unprepared

We did 1 outfit of each size plus his picture outfit. Honestly we kept him in the hospital stuff (Velcro swaddle sack) the entire time except for going home and his pictures. Especially since we were told sometimes the hospital, since they had to test, blood draw, circumcise, etc. Would be taking him out if the clothing and they may accidentally toss our stuff in with their dirty clothes and we wouldn't get them back.
