Hi mamas
I just had my baby boy on Saturday. When it comes to going to bed I have tried the bassinet next to our bed. I get him all swaddled up and he does great for about 20 minutes then he starts crying and want to be held. We do this all night. He doesn’t like to be put down and just wants to be cuddled. I really need your ladies suggestions. What do you do at night? How do you guys sleep?

I did cosleeping. They make bassinets that fit in the bed. Very normal for them to want closeness to you 🤗 it even helps regulate their breathing and heart rate. Sleep however is safe and comfortable. Congrats!

@kambam, I ended up putting him in our bed last night which I know is frowned upon and I feel like a bad mommy for doing it but he slept the rest of the night after that. I will look into bassinets for the bed. I will do whatever if it means we both get sleep

@skymomof4, are they aloud to sleep
In those all night?

You dont necessarily have to buy something either. Ive heard moms use their pregnancy pillows to case them in or nursing pillows. It was also easy for me since I dont have a partner to share a bed with. Dont worry about what people frown upon because they frown at everything 😂 do what works for you!

It’s completely normal for a newborn to be like this. He’s used to being warm, cozy, and close to you. This new world is very strange for him. You’ll find what works through trial and error. Read up on safe ways to bedshare. It can be done safely if certain precautions are taken. Congrats! He’s beautiful.

All of my kids hated being swaddled, try using just a sleep sack instead that’s what my kids liked. I also cosleep’d with them all. This time I have a bassinet that stays on the bed, but with the twins we had a pack and play with a top bassinet beside the bed. I would alternate the girls at each night wake, one would be in the pack n play and the other would just be on the bed beside me with bed pushed up against wall so there was no way they could fall, I just kept all blankets and pillows etc off of that side. It’s all trial and error until you find something that works for you, everyone is different
