Who all has gotten cervidil (or ant cervix softener) inserted after their water broke?

@angelfoodcake yeah of course. I had to be induced 40+6 went in at 1cm. She just didnt wanna come out lol

@girlmom. Well really by the time its time to push it's too late for the epidural lol

@angelfoodcake yup! I didn't even have that "ring of fire" that moms talk about! 2 pushes and she was out!

@girlmom. did you go with no epidural with pitocin?

My 3rd was the first time I was induced and it was wonderful, went all natural too!

@cams Yes I got it last time and it was horrible, ended up begging for the epidural at 7. My first I went without.

@cams Wow that's just Fab! The plan for me is to be admitted Thursday night and it inserted. I'm not dilated at all. Water broke Friday followed by pitocin. It would be great if I skipped the pitocin and Dr breaking water. That would be a first

I had it inserted with my first when I had an induction. They put it in around 9pm, water broke at 1am so they took it out. Was fully dilated by 3pm. Gave birth at 5:30. Never needed any pitocin.

@laniejay in my experience cervidil first then water break and then occasionally check for dilation. She is also gbs POS so I did hear them say they didn't want to keep checking cause it can cause infection.

@angelfoodcake, I didn’t think they could insert anything (other than a monitor) after water broke because that increases the risk of infection. That’s strange.

@girlmom. Exactly that's what I was saying like what in the world is going on

@girlmom. @mommmy2k15 Okay so I got the full story; yesterday it was a slow leak/rapture, that's why they inserted the cervidil to get it going. We basically wasted a trip yesterday. So now their about to start pitocin after she eats.

@angelfoodcake that's crazy! My doctor told me, if my water broke at home I would just be put on pit when I got there.

I had my water broken at 9 am and cervidil inserted also with pitocin. Had my son 3 hours later.

@girlmom. That's not true my niece was admitted yesterday early morning after her water broke and they inserted the cervidil - as of 6 am today she still 1 cm dilated. That's why I asked... Never heard of it being used after water has already broken

I got it before my water broke, they inserted it, I slept, eventually my water broke on it’s own.

Meee!!! First pregnancy. I was 41wks 5 days. And i eas supposed to recieve 5 doses! But 1 dose put me into labor and 5hrs after my daughter was born.. mind you my dr said it prolly wont put me into labor and recommendrd i take a sleeping pill to sleep tht night since in morning they would do pitocin.. but i never needed all tht. I jst went into labor after 1 pill and everything went smooth😀😀

You can't get it after your water breaks.

They take it out in order to break water.

And for me, nursers were starting pitocin right after he broke my water(my water has never broken on its own)

I had pitocin with my first birth they also had to break my water it was the worse
