Okay so is having diarrhea a sign of labor? I’m just nervous because I went into preterm labor about 6 days ago and I’m on medicine now to stop the contractions but should I tell my doctor about having diarrhea or could it be from the medicine? I don’t want to sound paranoid but I also don’t want to go into labor yet
@buntaine, oh yeah probably, I only took nifedipine once so I’ve got no experience on that but my nurses all warned me that the mag can make you feel like you have the flu so maybe it is that 🤷🏼♀️
@k_nc, I take nifedipine. It says online that it causes constipation but I figure since I was in the hospital on magnesium sulfate, maybe that’s what caused it
Are you taking indomethacin? That’s what I was on a couple weeks ago to stop my contractions and it caused diarrhea but I’d still tell your doctor. Never hurts to let them know just in case
Magnesium will definitely make you poop! I used to take 500 mgs/ day for nervous system support and the doctor warned me that it would help me to go more regularly. He was right. Call if you feel dizzy or lightheaded as the loss of fluids can cause low blood pressure if you’re not drinking enough.
