My daughter just turned 9 weeks old yesterday and I feel she is now more fussy than before. In addition, she doesn't want to sleep unless being held or cuddled next to. I love snuggling her but it gets to a point I cant do much of anything else. She instantly starts screaming crying if she doesnt get sleep. We ended up at the hospital because of it. She screamed for literally the whole day and got so overtired she couldn't sleep even being held and then started refusing to eat so she became dehydrated. So now I'm too fearful to ever put her down and try to make her sleep on her own because I dont want her to become overtired and dehydrated again.

Any advice? I've tried 2 bassinets, a rock and play, boppy, swing, white noise, lullabies, lay her down drowsy, diffusing oils, swaddling, not swaddling...the list goes on. I can maybe get her down for 30min sometimes. It's just odd because she was good about sleeping alone and we even had a routine of getting her to sleep by 9 or 10 and put her in her rock n play to sleep and we would put on her baby monitor and go watch TV for hours!

@rachael.mei well she kinda grew out of it as she became more mobile and playful she worried less about being with me. She still uses me as a pacifier when she's upset or tired so she doesn't self soothe. But distractions are what gets her to stop crying, most of the time shes to busy crawling or playing to be upset unless she's sleepy

@lilocaldwell was it something you had to transition her out of or something she grew out of on her own? I just dont want to create bad habits that's all! I do love the cuddles and I dont mind holding her but just dont want her to never be able to self soothe

My daughter was the same way I just had to except me having to hold her all the time. She is still new and want you all the time. People would tell me to cherish these moments and my daughter is only 8 months but still I wish I could go back to when she was as young as yours and hold her for every little cry

Having those "I'm a horrible mommy" feels today. I can't break the habit. She will scream, and scream until someone holds her. I'll try to put her down for sleep, and she'll scream, nothing will be wrong, she just wants to be held, even after I've held her all day. Once I pick her up, she'll go to sleep.....ugh.....advice?

Do you ladies agree when people say not to hold a baby often because they'll get used to being held all the time? So they'll cry until someone holds them, my LO is going to be 3 weeks and I hold her often but I don't like her crying if I put her down so I just hold her and some people tell me not to because then she'll always cry if she's put down.
