@xo_parkersmommy_xo, really? Why didn’t google say so? Lol not trying to sound like an idiot but it said antibiotics weren’t very effective for treating hand foot mouth because it was viral
When my son had HFM, they just said it had to run its course and there aren’t any antibiotics for it, because it’s just a virus. I didn’t even take him in, just called the nurse’s line. She said they didn’t need to see him unless he wouldn’t drink or eat.
Yup it’s a virus. No antibiotics. Treat the symptoms. That’s all that can be done. Usually for a child to go back to a school or daycare setting there cannot be blisters and of course fever free for at least 24 hours.
My little guy had hfm not too long ago and we took him in and we’re told the same as above. No meds they can give just treat the symptoms with Tylenol and ibuprofen and keep him hydrated as much as possible. We did pedialtye, they even have popsicles.

It’s a virus- it just needs to run its course. Unless there’s concerning symptoms like lethargy, a fever that won’t break etc
