Just left my dr office. She keeps mentioning inducing me. But I really want a no epidural birth & ive heard being induced you’re more likely to need a c section as a first time mom & pain meds. Thoughts???

You don't have to be induced. Just tell her no. As long as you don't have any medical concerns you should be fine. I went to 41 weeks 5 days with my daughter and went into labor on my own. My doctor wanted to induce me also but I just kept telling him no and I don't regret it at all. After you get passed your due date they'll probably do non stress tests and monitor your fluid.

Stand firm, momma. Like others have said, there's no reason for induction if your pregnancy has been healthy and you aren't overdue. My ob recommended inducing at 41w if I made it that far because then the risks started outweighing any benefits, but I went naturally at 40w3d and had a "textbook delivery" with no epidural. Stay true to your wishes!

@saleena Ask her outright - why would you want to induce at 39w? What is the benefit you see there? And then tell her you'd rather not be induced unless it's truly necessary. What she "wants" is less important than your wishes - you're the one pushing out a baby! Unless she has a medical reason for inducing so early, I say stick to your guns. Good luck!👍

@saleena, if she’s mentioning 39 weeks with no medical reason then you should be able to decline. That seems unnecessary. I was induced at 37+3 due to preeclampsia

Thanks ladies!!!!! I really don’t know why she even mentioned it. She measured my belly and as soon as she was done she said “ok have we thought about inducing at 39weeks?” I was extremely confused. She mentioned it my last appointment also.

I was induced no pain meds no c-section. It all depends on how things go. It’s like flipping a coin. But don’t let them force you into induction if it’s not medically necessary or if you’re in a lot of pain

I've gotten induced twice. One ended is a csection and second was an all natural vbac. I sucked it up and didn't ask for the epidural

I didn't have to get a c-section but definitely needed an epidural with my first

I was induced and ended up with a emergancy c section, there is more of a chance to have a c section or forceps as it's forcing baby to come but its not always the case

All mine have been inductions. After due dates. Epidural is an option if you choose. Shouldn't need a c section unless you have issues. Mine have been all vangial births.

I’ve been induced twice, once early and once for being overdue.

Both times I have had a smooth labour. (I’m a baby with pain so I had an epidural both times).

Both vaginal births.

That’s a lie my dr. Told me that the only way induction will be done is if you had high blood pressure throughout your pregnancy along with other complications

I was inducted with my son because of GD and I did med free and no c-section. You just have to breath and keep yourself claim and body relaxed during contractions. It’s not easy. Trust me, mins before I had my son I was asking for the epidural but I’m glad I didn’t get it. Like the other ladies I hope you don’t get induced unless you really need too. Best of luck momma 😊

I was induced with my first at 40 weeks but I was 18 at the time and being told he was going to be big and that I'd probably need a c-section. I had a natural unmedicated birth.

I wouldn’t get induced unless you go over 40 weeks. I was induced with my first because I went past my due date and there was absolutely no sign of him coming on his own. I hated it. Contractions are way worse. I went at night around 9pm to be induced. They shoved some kind of pill looking thing up my cervix that was suppose to help soften it but all it did was hurt like hell and had to stay in for 10 hours. I received the pitocin around 9am. An epidural around 3pm and didn’t have my son until until 2:30am. I did not need a c-section.

My daughter came on her own and it was so much easier!

Don’t get induced unless you have to

Idk why they’re pushing for induction, but I was induced as a FTM and did not get a csection. I was tying to go drug free but after 12 hours I gave in to the epidural since I was still at 5 cm. It was amazing because I was able to sleep and didn’t feel any pain and recovered quickly

Induction is not a requirement before 42 weeks or other medical reasons. Having been induced you can do it without an epidural. Take you next week weeks and walk a lot. As much as you can to help your body dilate and be prepared for birth.

I was induced with my first & didn’t need a c section but it is true being induced makes the contractions worse so I did end up getting the epidural. With my second the same I was induced & asked for the epidural at 7cm ONLY cause I wanted to sleep before the baby came lol other wise I would have done fine without it.
