Breastfeeding Mommas has it happened to any of you that the first few weeks with your baby you have good milk supply then it decreases for one reason or another .. were you able to increase your supply back after ??
Pumping is never an indication of what you are producing. The pump doesn’t take milk from all of the milk ducts only what’s closes to the nipple. Your baby is the only one that can pull from all milk duct. Latching your baby more and more will increase your supply naturally. Stress is a milk killer so try not to worry about it. wet diapers and some poopy diapers is a good indication of your baby being fed and of course weight gain. You milk is regulating itself to what your baby need based on how often they are latched and eating. The feeling of your breast being full will eventually go away completely unless. Full breast tell your body that your producing more than baby needs so it will decrease. Staying hydrate and eating will keep you producing as well as sleep. DM if you have anymore questions. Hope this was helpful😊
So no pumping .. would your baby be fussy at the beginning or anything? @lunachar62
@arri0910 i tryed pumping to much work i keep breastfeeding and i ate right
@lunachar62 im going to have to try it out ! Did you keep breastfeeding g or did you have to pump
Yes it happend to me i started crying and freaking out then my husband told me to relax because if i freak out the baby will also so i did and also i started eating right and i started drinking this tea called mothers milk tea you can find it at walmart works great
Make sure youre pace feeding with the bottle and not giving more than 1.5/2oz at a time. You cam try swaddle, sucking (boob or paci), shushing, and swinging to make her happy also.
@kambam yeah i wanted to see if someone had gone through something similar cause i was starting to stress over it .. that's what I'm doing now pumping and giving her bottle .. but sometimes she's still hungry
@nicemmcha2015 yes i hope it's that bc she also spills milk while breast feeding so it's like half she drinks and half spills
@arri0910 pumping is also no indication of how much milk you have. Baby can always get more than a pump. It could be shes just cluster feeding or getting mad because the letdown isn't as fast as she wants.
You definitely dont need to stop breastfeeding. If you want to supplement it can be with your own milk. Just use whatever you have pumped or extra. Sometimes babies gain slower than expected, doesn't mean they need extra, just more time. My son struggled to nurse and gain so ive been there.
@kambam yes thats what i thought at the beginning but then in 2 weeks she only gained 2 oz and dr want me to supplement if she doesnt gain more weight in 1 wk 😕 and i dont want to stop breastfeeding
Sounds normal to me. Babies don't nurse for JUST nutrition. They nurse for comfort, immunity, growth spurts, pain relief, building your supply etc etc. They do get pretty angry without their boobies so thats normal. If shes making plenty of diapers theres no concern
I noticed she wasnt getting full bc she would cry as soon as she noticed she wasn't on my breast anymore i started pumping 2 days ago and i only pump anywhere from 2-3 oz in 15-20minutes when the first 2 weeks i pumped only like 4 times to see if i could and in less than 5 min id get 2oz on each breast @kambam @nicemmcha2015
It's probably regulating. Just feed more often if you feel baby isnt getting enough. But how full you feel is no indication of how much milk you actually have.
You may see it adjusting, not decreasing. Which is normal. Keep nursing!
