Hey breastfeeding mamas, I did not get to breastfeed my first two so I’m new to this. Baby girl has been wanting to only be picked up, My breast leak like crazy when I’m around her so they’re constantly leaking, I have been feeding her every two to three hours but they’re still really hard and sore and always really full and leaking, Soaking the breast pads fast. What can I do to fix that? Also some times she latches on great but a lot of the times she doesn’t. Any tips on how to breastfeed and latch her on the right way? I was supposed to have a nurse come in today to help but something came up and she couldn’t make it.
@hbowen2018, @erikak, Thank you guys so much.
They did say she might be tongue tied but they didn’t look in to it. She has an appointment Monday, I’ll ask about that. She sometimes latches on great, Sometimes not so good. I will try all methods 😄
@karennn if she doesn't have a good latch it can make it very painful. And sometimes the first week or so can be a little tender as your nipples adjust to baby feeding. Do you know how to make sure she is latched properly? Once she gets a good latch breastfeeding shouldn't hurt. And has she been checked for lip or tongue tie? Cause that can make things a little harder.
It all sounds normal to me. Your milk supply will regulate... For now, I would wear breast pads and use lanolin for sore nipples. With getting a good latch, try to aim the nipple toward the roof of her mouth. Make sure she pees lots and her poops arent green. This is what I learned from my experience, so I hope it helps!
Make sure you keep a rag to wipe the area where the nipple is, if its too wet, she will have a hard time latching on
@hbowen2018, Thank you. It’s painful and I have been rubbing a cream they gave me in the hospital on them but they’re still really sore.
@karennn my oldest was tongue tied and it made breastfeeding a struggle. But you can talk to her pediatrician about correcting it 😊 hope things get easier for you!
