I feel like I'm being cheated out of the whole "birthing experience" because I have a scheduled induction. Anyone else feel like this?

Not at all, going on my 3rd induction. Only difference is my water didn't spontaneously break and I kinda knew the time frame....

@angelfoodcake, how long did it take after being induced to have your baby? I'm going in Wednesday evening but people are telling me I probably won't have him until Thursday or Friday.

Is there a medical reason for you being induced? If not, you can always decline.

I was induced 3 out of my four pregnancies. I was so happy when I went into labor naturally with my last! I understand what your saying!

@witchywoman, yes... History of pre-eclampsia and "advanced maternal age" (I'm 39).

Do you mind answering the question I posted above about how long? Thanks

@mi48235 It depends on your body, how much you are dilated and what methods they use...

My first induction I was in active labor and about 2 1/2 cm dilated. I went in about 5 pm had a baby about 1am.

My first I don't think I was dilated at all so they started me on cervical Sunday night. Monday morning starting pitocin, had baby about 7 pm Monday night.

Both water was manually broken.

Inductions typically go much smoother and quicker if you’ve already had previous children. My first took 19 hours and second only 10 and it felt even faster than that. It went really well.

abcd..

abcd..

Nope. Was induced with my second

I did at first, and when I see women trying to self induce before they are even full term pisses me off because my oldest came a month early and my youngest had me on bed rest for 10 weeks trying to keep him in.

Now I'm like meh, I don't want anymore kids, I'll get over it.

@mi48235 If you go During the evening there is a good chance you may have baby the next day, but 2 days later I surely hope not that's a long time to be in labor and I think there are some time constraints once you start anyway, that would be like 48 hours...

@mi48235 I went in for mine Sunday at the stroke of midnight. Had him at 9:39pm Sunday. It took awhile for the drugs to kick in, and my midwife was starting to think it would be a long induction. Then bam! Around 3:00pm labor full on started.

I didn't feel cheated. Honestly, it was a lot more relaxed than my first labor and I felt like I got to mentally prepare for it a little bit more because I knew it was coming. I slept, chatted with my midwife, and watched the Office until things got real. Lol.

I was just induced Saturday and honestly I like being prepared and planning for her birth. I have older kids and I was able to make sure my fridge and pantry was stocked for food before I went to the hospital at 7 am, had my baby girl pitocin Induced and no pain meds at 5 pm

Will your Mom be in the delivery room?

Will your Mom be in the delivery room? My mom made it sound like she was gonna be in the delivery room when I give birth, and quite frankly, I would just like it to be me and my fiancé. It's our first, and I want to share that special moment with just him. I don't want to hurt her feelings, and I know this is something she would really like to be a part of. So I feel bad telling her no.
