I need to rant a lot today. I'm just so irritated, hurt, and confused. I need some advice.

My husband won't talk to me because I don't walk our 6 year old to the bus stop thats 20 seconds away. We have two younger kids that would take 15 minutes to get ready to take them with me so I would have to leave them in the apartment but then our 3 year old would open the door and mess around and could possibly get hurt or someone could go into the apartment. But my oldest could get hit by a car if he forgets to look both ways if I don't walk him to the bus. So what am I supposed to do? I cant be in two places at once. I watch my oldest go to the bus stop/ get on the bus. He understands better than our 3 year old. Hubby thinks I don't care about him because I don't walk with him. I don't have any idea what to do except maybe take him to school but thats 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back. Hubby doesn't want to be wasting gas when there is a bus. Like wtf?

Wake up earlier and take all the kids to the bus stop, it's a hassle but don't want regret if something bad happens to him on a short walk

I'd suck it up and either get all the kids ready and bring them to the bus stop or bring him to school myself. I wouldn't let my 6yo walk to the bus stop alone and I wouldn't leave my younger kids home alone. Sure you can watch him from your balcony but if something happens all you can do is watch.

@mommyof.3, maybe ask him to be sure and just be like I feel comfortable watching him walk all the way to the bus stop, if you don’t please help me by driving him to the bus stop on your way to work instead of leaving so early. He shouldn’t be just mad at you because he could do something to help the situation.

Girl I think you’re doing fine. Your hubby seems as though he’s being overly cautious. If you can see him the whole time I don’t think it’s that bad. Sure it would be better to walk with him but things can’t always be that way. And if your husband isn’t willing to help that’s a whole other thing you should address with him. Does he NEED to be at work early to get things ready?

You’re husband is probably just being extremely cautious. I can see if the bus stop was like 1mile or 2 blocks away and he was the only kid. But most bus stops are in every corner less than 5 homes away. Unless you live out in the country.

@sboolay there are 6 or 7 other kids at the bus stop. Some are his age and some are older. He is the only one who walks from our direction.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. If it’s close enough, you can even keep him at your house until you hear the bus stop close by so that he is not waiting alone. I’m assuming there are other children waiting with him at the bus stop as well. Maybe he can also buddy up with another kid his age or a bit older. I see a lot of the kids in my neighborhood do that. We have bus stops in almost in every corner. You see the parents waiting outside with the kids while the bus gets there. I also see kids together at the bus stop 2-3 per bus stop with parents sitting outside. They all look between the ages of 5-10yrs.

Your husband should take him half the days and you should the other half with ALL kids. Absolutely ridiculous to even consider leaving young children home alone even for 20 seconds. ANYTHING could happen. Same with your 6 yr old. Someone could easily kidnap him in that amount of time without you reaching him before they were gone.

@sboolay yep! I can see when he walks out our building and all the way to the bus stop. Then I watch him while he waits. Sometimes the bus is there so I just watch him get on the bus and then the bus leaves. I never take my eyes off of him until the bus leaves.

Can you see your kid from your house up to where his bus stop is? If you can see him, I don’t see anything wrong with it. Lots of kids in our neighborhood walk to the bus alone while the parents sit outside the house watching them. You can also put in a request for a closer bus stop so you are able to watch him from your house.

@mommyof.3, ohhh.. just yell at him when he gets close to the road and remind him to look both ways. Like I said I walked to school myself when I was a kid cause the bus didn’t run where I lived and my mom was too cracked out to take me. So if you feel he is able to walk himself then he can.

Lock the front door when you walk him so your 3yo can’t open the door. Since

It’s so close they can stay in the living room while you take him maybe.

@mommyof.3 I think you're doing right. You can't be with your kids 24-7, and you are watching him the whole time. 20sec away? He's fine. I'm with you on this. You know how competent he is and if you as a mother determine he's mature enough to walk alone for a bit, I think you're fine.

When I had neighbors yrs ago the couple next door had a 5 yr old and 10 yr old..when they first moved in they both delivered newspapers at night well there 5 yr old would cry in our hallway bldg.and tell us he is alone with his brother who is knocked out sleeping..they never told us his parents ...we would just hi and bye in the hallway..my other neighbor was about to call the police on them she has 2 young kids and would drive her man at time's to work and I would keep an eye on her kids in my apt..we never know someone's situation but,,kids safety is very important..at age 3 your son I'm sure knows how to turn on the water so he can get burned or drown in toliet..yes possibly anyone who doesn't have air for 2 min can drown even adults unless your a professional diver..so if u have a neighbor, you can trust help you,,or pay a private bus or take your son to school while your husband stays with the kids..it shouldn't be all for you to figure out

@mommyof.3 ..What state are you in ? In most states there is a law to what age children can stay alone..at home..I would walk, or drive my 6 yr old to the bus or to school..Sorry is my opinion as a mother over 22 yrs of my life...haven't you seen children being kidnapped or women disappearing on the news..? And since your not a single mom..Your husband who like s to be early to work should take this into consideration too it shouldn't be all on you since he figures your a stay at home mom correct? Or he should take him to school #1 or pay for a private bus that they come to your front door...or help you each schools day prepare to get ready with all your children! Not putting you down hope You&Your husband come to a safe solution! It is 100%not safe to leave a 3 yr old in a home alone even for a sec!.I have 3 son's each has more energy than the next. Well my last son who is a toddler does stuff his older brother's never did..he is a runner and is non stop energetic

@bitchcraft we have a little talk everyday before he leaves. As soon as he walks out our door I run to the balcony so i can see him exit our building and walk to the bus. I don't leave the balcony until the bus leaves so I know he is on the bus. I also have the bus drivers number so I can text her if I ever needed to.

@mommyof.3 he shouldn't act like that he should help if he can.. let him get upset but tell him he is going to take his son to the bus stop and isn't going to work early because your not about to leave the LOs alone or take them out

So my husband leaves maybe 10 minutes before we wake up and he always gets to work early. I told him that maybe he could wait and leave when our son has to leave so he can walk or drive him to the bus stop and I can sit on the balcony and watch him until the bus gets there. But all my husband did is get mad at me. Like if its not his way then he gets mad. Im trying to come up with a way all three kids are safe.

@bitchcraft also i try to not take our youngest out when its cold because he is a CHD baby. Also sometimes he is still sleeping. It just depends on the day.

Its a tough situation and I honestly dont know how I would personally handle it. I agree a 6 yr old shouldn't walk alone and if something was to happen (god forbid) it would be considered parental neglect. But I see your point in all aspects girl! What solution has your husband come up with? Maybe get an older neighbor kid or parent already walking their child to stop by your apartment, get him and walk with him for like $5 a week? It would be cheaper than gas to and from school. I hope you find a solution love!

@momof3cuties everyone is usually busy themselves during this time. See thats why I stopped walking him to the bus because I didn't want to leave my kids alone. I mean I stand on our balcony and I can see him leave our apartment building and i can see him walk to the bus the entire time. Buts the only thing I can do except maybe take him to school myself.

Do you have any nebiogher that can watch you other kids for a few mins or walk with your son? I will let you know if anyone finds out you are doing this they might call the cops. It's a hard place to be in. What time does your husband have to be at work

@kambam its literally 20 seconds away. It would take more time to ask someone to sit with my younger kids than it is to walk to the bus stop. And most of the people in our apartment building have their own kids that they are taking to school or they themselves are going to work. I should mention that his bus gets there between 6:40-6:50.

Definitely cannot leave your kids behind. Maybe you can find some moms in the area and have them pop by your house for a few while you walk the older? In return you'll help them with something. Dunno but I dont think 6yr should go alone necessarily. Doesn't mean you dont care though.

At What Age Should a Child Make Their Own Breakfast?

Make your own breakfast! At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.
