Well, at 11:30 PM on Oct.14 I thought I was experiencing terrible indigestion. Used the bathroom and it felt a little bit better so I fell asleep. 1:30 AM and the pain came back. Best way to explain it is an elephant sitting on chest and someone squeezing the insides of my stomach. I didn’t want to go to the ER just for indigestion, so I waited until 3:40 AM and knew I needed to at least get checked out. They checked my blood pressure and it was very high. Did an EKG to rule out heart attack and sent me to labor and delivery. Once I got to L&D it was confirmed I had preeclampsia. Right there they told me I would be meeting baby girl. They put cervadil (I think that’s how you spell it) in and it got me to 2 CM and made my water break. I was so excited because it was only in there for about two hours so I was convinced I was going to have this baby natural. Well, I was wrong. Her heart rate kept dropping so they had to do an emergency c-section. At that moment I bawled my eyes out. I’ve dreamed of having skin to skin immediately so to say I was devastated is an understatement. She was delivered at 11:49 AM on October 15th. She is 3 pounds and 12 ounces. Yes, she is small but fully developed. She’s feisty and a fighter and I’m obsessed. On the other hand it’s 7:21 and I still haven’t seen her since the birth. Nothing seemed to lower my BP and I’m at high risk for a seizure, so I’m on magnesium. The last couple BPs have been in normal range because of the pain pills they gave me. I’m so happy she’s healthy and that’s all I really care about. Hopefully I’ll see her soon.
