@exstatic00 well for now his is under his ribs but his is also a small one because he only needs one wire. Its basically just keeping his heart rate over 100. It depends on each condition. My son only had his placed because of his surgery. Since your baby has it naturally it could be a little different. Also it seems nerve wrecking but honestly he is just like any other 13 month old. He only has a few restrictions. Write down all of your worries and questions and make sure to take them with you to your cardiology appointment. It really helps to ask a lot of questions. It did for us!

@exstatic00 Yep! He will most likely have it for the rest of his life.

My little man was born with a VSD. We didn't know until he was 2 weeks old. At 5 months old he had it repaired but came out with a complete block. After 19 days he had a pacemaker placed. He is now a happy 13 month old who is starting to walk!

Yes! There is hope! Its tough when you are told baby in utero will have a condition, and then not knowing what to fully expect until they are born. It makes the wait so much harder@

Both conditions are perfectly treatable, which is fantastic! I work in adult cardiology, not peds, but we have a lot of patients with those issues that are living full and happy lives!

@expectinggreatness, yes more testing when it’s born aswell. And will have to see a cardiologist most likely. Thank you so much! There is hope!

Are you saying the baby you’re carrying has this heart condition ? Sorry to hear that. Will they be doing additional testing or surgery when the baby is born or will the issue be better once born ? Are they sure the baby has this ? I’ve seen so many people get a diagnosis for their baby in utero and the baby come out perfectly fine . HUGS
