So do tropical storms/hurricanes really cause women to go in labor? I’ve had a few people tell me that I need to be at the hospital or close to it when the storm hits this week.

@blackfire7887, I plan on being there when the storm comes I have an appointment that day anyways so I might as well just hangout there unless I’m dilated enough for them to keep me when they go to check me

Check out the hospital you're going to deliver at. They have a recommended weeks and above, but for mine, strict on what you can and can't bring... I.e. 1 pillow and blanket, not kids, and 1 person to keep an eye on you. Bring your own snacks; and you'll be in the hallway somewhere....

Aside from the stress, they don't want to have to send paramedics out into the unknown to come and get you.... And you DONT want to be on the roads when the bad weather is here...

At 38 weeks, I'd go in just to be on the safe side.... I know it sucks, but storms can pickup, decrease or turn at any given time.... You want to take the safest approach

I've heard of full moons causing rise of labor because of the gravitational pull but never heard of storms. I'd stay close anyway because if you do your hate to be in a rush to hospital in a storm.

Yes they advice women 36 weeks & up to wait the storm out at the hospital because the pressure drops and it can cause labor to start

@khecks21, they said it has something to do with the barometric pressure

Maybe because of the stress? I’ve never heard that before.
