I’m just about done with breastfeeding. I produce too much milk. My breast are full and heavy even after baby eats/ pump. I just finish pumping because baby is asleep and I needed to pump desperately and I pumped 8oz total. Any advice to slow down production ?!

@fakoffyeh, I’m afraid I’ll get engorged or get mastitis. He’s only 11 days old.

@fakoffyeh, thank you I’ll try it out

@joselin.salazar47, girl my milk supply is crazy!! Even after my son eats on both sides & I pump I can get almost 12 oz! It’s crazy! When he is eating from one side my other side is like a faucet! I bought one of these & it has helped with that! It is super frustrating being out away from the house and getting extremely engorged, it’s painful. Then you leak all over the place. My supply keeps getting higher and higher and my son will be 3 weeks old Friday. Hopefully you find a way to help!!!

The more you pump the more you'll produce. You're not supposed to start pumping until you're 4-6 weeks pp because it can cause overproduction. If you slow down your pumping, your body will self regulate.

@yayacarrington, this is all confusing to me. I pump 3x in a 24 hour. I only pump because sometimes baby sleeps throughout the night. So half way through the night my boobs hurt! I feel like a complete idiot when it comes to breastfeeding -_-

I pumped a lot, too, with my first baby and I was miserable. I felt like I was constantly pumping or nursing. It was exhausting. Turns out I was doing it to myself. The more I pumped the more I produced. And the worst part was that he refused to take bottles! With my last baby I swore I'd never pump and I didn't. I never had a problem with mastitis or engorgement like I did with my firstborn.

@yayacarrington, wow! I wondered why I was producing so much milk. The lactation consultant at the hospital had me pumping after every feeding for 15 mins. I continued that and all of a sudden I have a huge painful supply! Im glad you commented that so now I know!!! Maybe I can go out in public and not be in pain from needing to pump!
