So my nurses at the hospital want me to try and breastfeed every 3 hours. And I feel like that’s hard to do because my little one wants to sleep in incriments of about 4-5 hours at the moment. If they wake her up she generally gets so mad that she won’t latch at all and I have to try and console her before I can feed her but she generally falls back asleep while trying to console her. Is there a happy in between you ladies have found with breastfeeding and dealing with nurses who just want to help?
My son did this and I let him do him. He was eating enough and gaining weight so I wasn’t worried and my nurses weren’t either his dr wasn’t either. They were fully aware of it too and said “he’s fine. He’s gaining weight and had his whatever amount of feedings and diapers we needed within a certain amount of time so you’re good” he would sleep for 5 hours sometimes.
Oh i see ! Yeah it kinda sucks for a couple weeks. But feed on demand, often as possible. Going skin to skin is very soothing for them and easy for you as well since youre breastfeeding and they'll be right there.
If they’re not eating every 3 hours and sleeping a bunch they can end up being jaundiced.
Ideally baby should eat this frequently and you need the stimulation to establish your supply.
I have to stay until tomorrow morning cause they wanted to watch the little one for 2 days because I had tested positive for strep b.
She still isn’t eating often. But this morning before we were discharged they let me do this thing were they put alittle bit of formula in a tube next to my nipple to get her to latch and she ate quite a bit then so they have me doing that every other feeding till my milk comes in to get her established.
