@aileenquinter123 I swear I can't go to sleep any other way but sometimes I will wake up on my side. With my first pregnancy my dr told me if it's not hurting me then its not hurting the baby
I never could lay on my side this pregnancy I would always get a crazy amount of Braxton Hicks it’s so weird and now I still can lay on my side I get really bad pelvic pains so the whole pregnancy I’ve laid on my back but just propped up with pillows
The major vena cava is pretty vital to blood flow during pregnancy. Laying on your back for long periods of time continuously during pregnancy can obstruct oxygen flow to the baby’s lungs and cause respiratory problems later. Doctors usually recommend not sleeping on your back for fear that the major vein gets cut off long enough to cause a crushed vein, a blockage or blood clots to the legs.
Idk how rare it is but I’m sure if it’s recommended to avoid it’s probably for a reason. I’m a belly sleeper and if it wasn’t so uncomfortable for my babe, I’d probably still continue to sleep on my sides for the time being. It’s only 9 months and they go by quick. 🤷🏻♀️
The first comment is why they say it but i agree you will know when to move. I always played safe and stayed on my sides. I always felt out of breath on my back anyway lol.

The weight of your uterus compresses major blood vessels.

Several studies have indicated sleeping on your back could increase the chances of still birth https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/sleeping-on-your-back-during-pregnancy-risk-of-stillbirth/
