NEVER use castor oil to induce labor. If your doctor or midwife suggests it or says it’s fine, find a new one. It’s not safe and it can kill the baby.

👏👏👏 yesssss. They can have their first bowel movement and asperate it!

WHY WOULD ANYONE RISK KILLING A BABY BY MAKING IT DRINK/BREATH ITS OWN SHIT.

Would you do that to a baby out of the womb?!

NO.

Sorry im done. 💀

At one time it was a big thing for a lot of pregnant women. People just doing what everyone else was doing.

@lovebeingamom, and I get that but it has since been proven to be dangerous so anyone who does it is selfish and risking their baby’s life.

Ok.

Yep, it’s gross people want to take that risk, and knowing it’s bad, still try to argue how they are going to do it.

Both my pregnancies were awful. I was crying every day in so much pain. I couldn’t sleep and I was throwing up every day until pushing my babies out. I get being uncomfortable but I would’ve never tried castor oil to make them come out because I was uncomfortable.

@feeneythebashingqueen, Right! It’s sad seeing people give that advice for something harmful.

@feeneythebashingqueen is all over the internet that its bad. Also a chance it won't work and it makes u shit and feel miserable. Ive heard of someone having a stillborn and i think it can cause other problems i read. I agree why put a baby at risk of such danger because your uncomfortable? My ovia pregnancy app i argued with a girl because it worked for her sister and she told every one it did and to try and i was like no their are risks don't tell people that

@lovebeingamom, just go look it up. It’s all over and any sane doctor would advise against it. Also I’ve hear of several ladies having issues because of drinking it. Some even lost their baby. There’s a post on here about her experience too.

@lii94 i do agree that you should never drink castor oil but just so you know. Baby can have their first bowle movement inside the body without drinking oil...

@ashtonndamon i know that thank you 😊 but its one of the BIG risks with castor oil. Why do it? I know it can happen regardless but why do something that will most likely cause it? 🤷🏻 makes no sense to me. A girl i know did this and guess what? Emergency c section csuse her body wasnt ready, her babes went into distress cause he pooped in the womb, she almost died from infection and the baby as well. And she's a fellow nurse. 🙄

@lii94 i agree you shouldnt do it. Just wanted to make sure you knew

I went past the 42nd week mark with my first and was given instructions to make a castor oil smoothie and to sip it. The theory behind castor oil is that it will start intestinal contractions which in turn can start uterine contractions leading to a "naturally induced" labor. I did not get any of the good or bad effects and my baby was unaffected, THANK GOD! As it turned out my post term situation was the first sign that something was congenitally wrong with baby girl. But we wouldn't find that out until she was 4 days old. There are too many unknowns and risks involved with this and many methods. If I had the chance to go back I would make a different choice so as not to risk it. Unfortunately, even playing by the safest rules there are risks. But why create more?

Mel: you and I have shared a lot over the years. Thank you for your place in my life. Hugs mama and thank you for always trying to share your sad experiences in ways that can help others going forward. Hugs mama!
