Not sleeping through the night is normal. What does their pedi say about their development?

My daughter will be 8 months tomorrow and she has a hard time sleeping through the night also.

My youngest was the same way when it came to sitting up. I would recommend it to their pediatrician. They told me my youngest had a slight delay but was able to catch up in about a month or so. Are they eating well before bed or eating a lot throughout the night? Or he possibly could just be getting uncomfortable.

Said they are fine. I just don't get how they are both doing this. My first son never did this. When they wake they go right back to sleep if I move them or give them their pacifier back. But I can't keep moving them to their rock and plays anymore because they are starting to turn onto their stomachs in them. I don't understand why once I move them into the rock n plays they go back to sleep, but usually never go back to sleep once they wake in the crib. But they will still wake a few times in them to but I can get them back to sleep easily when they are in there

Of you sit them do they stay sitirng or can they just not sit? Are they army crawling but not crawling crawling?

Also my boy.moves around wakes himself cries 2-3 cries.and settles back down but he also throws himself onto the sides of the crib. Its normal.. and the pacifier i csnt help my boy never really took one passed 4m

@hbowen2018 they have an 8 ounce bottle and share a pouch of baby food before bed. So I feed them solids twice a day and they drink 32 ounces of formula throughout the day. I stopped night feedings at 3 months

@ladyfreyja maybe try letting them eat a pouch of baby food each towards the end of the day, or adding baby oatmeal or cereal to it to thicken it up a little. It might help. When my youngest was 8months he was eating about 3-4 jars of baby food with oatmeal mixed into it a day but he eats a lot lol.

@lii94 my girl twin can sit up on her own for a couple minutes. And yes they can both kind army crawl. But its more like pulling themselves forward

@hbowen2018 my pediatrician said only a table spoon of each food they eat at a sitting. Would them each having their own pouch of food plus and 8 ounce bottle be to much?

I mean they don't seem hungry when they wake, it's not like they stay up crying for food. I would think if they were that hungry they would cry harder for longer. Is it worth waking them to change a wet diaper at night? Never did that with my first son and he was fine.

@ladyfreyja I'm not sure then. My 10month old was never satisfied with just regular baby food, he's be hungry after eating a jar til I started mixing in oatmeal to make it thicker. But every baby is different. I never got him up to change him unless he really needed it, but if he only peed a little I wouldn't really bother him. Could it be he's getting to hot or getting a little cold in his sleep? Or maybe just gassy? Possible acid reflux (never dealt with it with my kids but heard it could keep them up).

Sorry I'm just tryna think of different reasons different babies get up.

I will add though when I started giving my youngest more baby food I reduced his milk intake.

@hbowen2018 well he is kinda gassy, they are on the sensitive formula plus they take a probiotic to help with gas. How would you know if they have reflux? And is it ok for them to have more solids then formula? I always thought before one year their milk or formula was more important

It maybe Rhythmic syndrome disorder. My son has this, he's 5 and he's been doing it since he was 6 months. He's a healthy normal child but self sooth when he's tired. But, you know everything has a label so...hope this helps.

I will also add that when they do start to cry at night I wait 2 mins before I intervene

@goddesshotep so you think both my twins might have this? And it will always be like this if that's what it is?

@ladyfreyja it's possible, one may be "worse" than the other. Just be observant and see if it progress or slow down for either Child. When my son isn't feeling well he does it a lot more.

@ladyfreyja I would just take them down to 6 oz if you give more solids that way it isn't too much in their belly's. And yes formula/breast milk is extremely important til they are one, but as they get older they should slowly be eating more solids. I'm not 100% sure how to tell if it's acid reflux cause I haven't personally dealt with it with my kids, but I know a lot of people who has and their babies ha trouble sleeping.
