My birth story.. I had my daughter on Wednesday. I was induced on my due date (I was measuring ahead). Started pitocin when I was dilated 3cm. They kept upping it and I was fine. The nurse said they wanted to break my water so she recommended me getting an epidural because it would get a lot more painful afterwards with all the pitocin I had. I said Okay and while waiting for the epidural to arrive, It sounded like and felt like a bone broke in my pelvis and everything went from a 5 to 100 in a couple minutes. Apparently this was her moving down into the birth canal and everything spreading. I went from the 3cm to 9.5cm on 12ml of pitocin while waiting on the damn epidural and I thought I was dying. My water ended up breaking and leaking every time I had a contraction. After I finally got the epidural and calmed down, my midwife let me nap for a little bit and then I pushed her right out.
If you’re getting induced with pitocin and having normal to semi strong contractions while dilating normally, don’t wait on the epidural. Mine turned so fast I felt like my head was going to spin and every bone was breaking in my body. It was awful. They were yelling at me towards the end to slow my breathing because I was passing out. I have a high tolerance for pain. My midwife said I could’ve easily given birth naturally if I wouldn’t have had pitocin because I was doing so well. It was so scary lol. Glad it’s over and we are both doing fine!
