Anyone else’s child who is just SOO bad at such a young age? I know they say they go through “terrible twos” but my son is just so ungodly misbehaved and I honestly don’t know what to do. NOTHING works. It’s gotten to the point where his father and I can hardly take him out in public because he likes to show out so bad. We pop him on the butt when he needs it, but I don’t want that to be the only way we discipline him and it doesn’t even work, just makes him all butt hurt. I’m a first time mom and was not prepared for this stage at all. Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated.

***my son doesn’t turn two until November 1st.

Limit TV time- less than 2 hours a day

Time out for 2 minutes

Dont yell, calmly tell him what hes dling wrong and tell him the right way to do it.

If he's hitting, try not to pop him for it.

When he's acting out in public, take him out to car, let him settle down.

Reward him for good behavior

Make a "how my day went" chart.

2 good days- stickers

4 good days- go to dollar store to pick something out.

I did this all my girls, now i get told my kids are so well behaved they are ever seen.

@girlmom., he doesn’t really watch tv all that much unless he’s laying down for a nap or bedtime! And I always try to explain to him what he’s doing wrong first, but it seems like the only time he will actually listen is if I yell and tell him “no” 😔

@tylersmommy11116 instead of tv at night, try reading a book..

All the ladies that commented gave great advice. But also, just know, it’s normal. My first born started acting out around a year and a half old and he just now started getting better. He still throws his fits, but it’s a lot better than it used to be. It’s easier to deal with now as well because he’s at the age where he understands what I’m saying and he can communicate with me better now that he’s older. When they’re that young I think they get even more frustrated because they can’t fully communicate and understand things.

@emilymarie1357, I honestly believe that has a lot to do with it as well! I know it’s normal for them to go through the “terrible two” phase but he doesn’t really talk all that much yet, so sometimes we just don’t know what he’s wanting/needing. If he wants something to drink, he brings his cup to one of us, when he’s ready to lay down he will climb in your lap with his blanket, and he says simple things like thank you when you give him something or do something for him. But a lot of the time he doesn’t fully understand how to communicate with us yet. I’m not saying he’s bad all the time because he has his moments and days where he is just SO sweet and well behaved, but a lot of the time he doesn’t want to listen.
